World leaders are streaming into Hangzhou for the meeting. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi landed this morning. This is his second visit to China since taking office in 2014. That was also the year Italy and China established a comprehensive strategic partnership. The country was just hit by a massive earthquake, and as a platform of cooperation, the G20 summit will provide support to Rome.

Also already in Hangzhou is Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. This is his first visit to China since taking office last year. Besides Hangzhou, Trudeau’s tour also includes stops in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Trudeau said during this trip, he would “strive for a closer, more balanced relationship between Canada and China."

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is in China for the second time this year. It is his 11th visit to the country in his role as U.N. secretary general. He spoke highly of China’s efforts to get the U.N.’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on the agenda for the G20 summit. He also said this year’s summit would be a good chance to promote the early implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Indonesian president Joko Widodo has invited Jack Ma, the founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, to be an economic advisor, during his visit to Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, for the G20 summit, on Friday.

Indonesia has 56 million small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Widodo said. He wished to boost the cooperation between SMEs in Indonesia and Alibaba and help them enter the Chinese and the global market.

The Indonesian government's support to and vision of the SMEs are consistent with Alibaba's, said Ma, who accompanied Widodo and his wife during the visit to Alibaba Xixi headquarters.

Indonesia holds great potential in e-commerce with its large population and numbers of SMEs, he said, adding that Alibaba's business model is suitable for the Indonesian market and he is confident Alibaba can help Indonesian companies.

The G20 summit is scheduled to run from September 4-5 in Hangzhou.

ANKARA: Turkey published in its official gazette a deal with China for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy on Friday, a step needed to open the way for China to potentially build Turkey's third nuclear power plant.

The deal was originally signed in 2012 but such international agreements only go into effect in Turkey once they are published in the gazette.

Russia is building Turkey's first nuclear plant, while a Japanese-French consortium will build its second in the north. China is among countries interested in building a third plant.

President Xi meets Turkish counterpart
HANGZHOU, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Turkish leaders on Saturday agreed to advance cooperation in fields of counter-terrorism, energy and infrastructure during a meeting ahead of the G20 Hangzhou summit.

In the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Xi Jinping said China appreciates Turkey's affirmation that it will never allow any activities that could undermine China's security to take place on Turkish soil.

He called on both sides to adhere to the core issue of political mutual trust, and to achieve more substantial results on anti-terrorism and security cooperation

Both should consider concrete means and projects to link China-proposed Belt and Road initiative with Turkey's development strategy, to achieve substantial progress in cooperation in infrastructure, energy, quarantine and other fields, Xi said.

Erdogan appreciated China's support for Turkey to maintain its national security and social stability. He expressed hopes that the two countries could increase collaboration in investment, energy, infrastructure, aviation, agriculture, tourism and counter-terrorism.

Xi said China is willing to work with Turkey, last year's host of the G20 summit in Antalya, to propel the G20 to play a bigger role in global economic governance.

He noted the good communication Turkey maintained with Chinese authorities on the preparation for the upcoming Hangzhou summit.

Thanks to concerted efforts from both sides, many consensus reached between the two presidents to advance Sino-Turkish ties have been, or are in the process of being implemented, producing gratifying results, Xi said.

Noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Xi said China is willing to work with Turkey to advance their strategic partnership, and holds high expectations for the future of Sino-Turkish ties.

A series of cooperation agreements in energy, inspection and quarantine and other fields were signed after the meeting.

Erdogan is in Hangzhou for the 11th summit of Group of 20 major economies scheduled on Sunday and Monday.

Tadaaaaa!

See I told you guys..... Gradually and slowly we all will be witnessing the formation of a strong eastern block comprising of Turkey-Iran-Pakistan-China-Russia.

The reality is that things are being kept under thick wraps for obvious reasons. Work on this started several years ago.

Do a bit of research on currency wars, China's and Russia's de-dollarisation, future of petro-dollar, yada yada yada.

Brace yourself.

And to all the rats..... This is much much bigger than India. The positioning that your Modi has taken will eventually put India and Indians in harms way.

Obama: U.S. Joins China in Ratifying Paris Climate Accords
byRON ALLEN
HANGZHOU, China — President Barack Obama has announced the U.S. will formally join a sweepingglobal emissions-cutting accord reached last year, boosting efforts to bring the plan into effect by the end of 2016.

The Paris Agreement could well be remembered as "the moment we finally decided to save our planet," Obama said on Saturday in advance of the Group of 20 summit that starts Sunday in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.

"For all the challenges that we face, the growing threat of climate change could define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other challenge," he said.

The announcement marked a major victory for Obama. He has pushed hard for the world to recognize the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions and protect the planet. Some of his most intense critics don't even agree with the basic premise that the world climate is changing in a way that threatens future generations.

Significantly, China's President Xi Jinping also formally ratified the accord earlier on Saturday. That means China and the U.S., which produce nearly 40 percent the world's greenhouse gases, are now officially part of the agreement negotiated by 195 nations in Paris last year.

"The world's two largest economies and two largest emitters, our entrance into this agreement continues the momentum in Paris and to give the rest of the world confidence, either developed or developing countries," Obama said. "That a low carbon future is where the world is heading."
