Waiting game
waiting game for something else to happen. to break the stalemate.
what is the stalemate?

• America cant (or doesnt) want to completely destroy Taliban
• Pakistan cant (or wont) make Afghan Taliban its main enemy ignoring BLA, Lasker Jhangvi & Pakistani Taliban
• Kabul Goverment cant survive without American presence and will like them to stay to keep the perks
• Taliban cant defeat Kabul regime while it enjoys American support.

what else happened?
Taliban made some stunning attacks. they are not holding ground but they have expanded their influence and this action conveyed a message to Americans that Taliban cant be defeated and they will dictate the terms of peace in Afghanistan. they have to remain relevant by keeping country in turmoil. all they have to do is remain a potent factor. they cant win but they cant be defeated so they are the victors (if it makes sense)

what Pakistan can do? convince Taliban to come to the negotiating table. facilitate the negotiation but cant force them to the will and wishes of Americans. they have seen what happened to their leadership that agreed for the peace talks. they were either assassinated or droned by Americans and Kabul regime hoping that killing some iconic leaders will break the will of Taliban and thats where Americans are doing exactly what the Soviets tried and failed.

Do More?
no amount of American money or intimidation can force Pakistan to commit the suicide by going after the people who are not fighting against us and who are seem by large population of Pakistan and Afghanistan as freedom fighters and add them to the list of hostile groups like TTP and all its factions. so , no thanks because such action will turn Pakistan into Afghanistan as well.

Double Role
where it fits policy of your country you ignore what is good or bad. you will look the other way when your close ally is violating human rights just because it happens to be selling you subsided oil and you will also fail to acknowledge the mass human rights violations by the occupation forces of your new found friend who you are prepping against China. your preferences and interests cant necessarily be same as another country no matter how much you force it.
