FT: White House no longer sees anything special in UK relations

Go and kiss your Japanese masters instead of trolling here.

I can eat a whole bowl of alphabet soup and shit out a much better response. For your information I am Pakistani you anal retentive piece of sphincters puss, so go and serve some Chai and make it quick.

.
yes of course you have bigger economy. but do you know where that money came from? it came from looting us for over 200 years. have some shame not pride.
No. It came form avoiding a Soviet style centrally planned economy as India had for nearly fifty years.

England cannot enforce their right. Countries are getting more and more vocal and assertive. Newer economies are emerging and will continue to rise pushing out the older ones and smaller countries like england will pay the price.

Britain does not need to enforce their rights on oil rich Middle Eastern countries. These Middle Eastern countries want the giant British oil companies there, because the Arab shareholders (including the Sultan's) make huge amounts of money off the revenue the London consortium's make. The wealthy Arabs only care about making big money, and they are happy with the current situation of British oil giants BP and Royal Dutch Shell dominating their oil industries.

As I said economic influence depends on the nominal GDP not per capita income. More and more countries already are and will later induct into the trillion dollar club. And one country's economy rises at the cost of another country's economy. Every country on the planet cannot have a 14 trillion dollar economy.

Yes I agree, GDP Nominal matters more than GDP per capita in terms of economic power and influence. The British Nominal economy is currently the 5th largest in the world, several places ahead of India, so what is your point?

But one thing fanboys like you are forgetting is that england is already performing at its peak. There is no scope for growth in further sectors. Could have been different if they had oil or a vast land mass for exploration of other minerals. But england is not Russia. Countries like India and Brazil are growing and will continue to grow for another 15-20 years at least which is more than enough to overtake english nominal GDP.

British economy is currently growing at a very similar size to Brazil. But the British advantage is the very powerful Pound and very powerful city of London. The IMF predicts that the British economy will leave Brazil behind in the dust.

IMF WEO Britain v Brazil

In 2014: (UK ahead 0.6 trillion)
1. UK 2.9 trillion
2. Brazil 2.3 trillion

In 2020: (UK ahead 1.4 trillion!!!)
1. UK 3.7 trillion
2. Brazil 2.3 trillion

UK population 60 million, Brazil population 200 million. So your argument that a country needs a huge population and landmass is false. Clearly, Brazil is loosing badly against Britain.

Besides due to growing population plus expansion of infrastructure there will be growing demand for fuel which is hydrocarbon. England with a 2 trillion dollar nominal GDP will offer a 80-20 share of oil profit per oil field, others with a 3-4 trillion dollar nominal GDP can and will offer a better deal than that. It is a small price to pay for the fuel needed to run their industries.

Errr... did you look at those IMF figures? UK is almost a 3 trillion economy right now and in 2020 the UK will nearly be a 4 trillion economy. So I think the UK will be just fine. Besides, British oil production infrastructure is among the most efficient and modern in the world. That is one of the reasons why giant British oil companies are able to dominate the oil and gas industries in places like the Middle East.

Indian oil companies are dwarfs in comparison to the British and have a reputation for poor quality infrastructure, poorly qualified workers and lots of other problems. That is why no Indian oil companies do not dominate any oil industry on the planet.

Fan boys like you have never studied history. Many empires starting from the roman to others have declined on a similar basis. The US itself is on a shaky ground but some servile people in honkg kong still believe in the english empire which ended in 1945.

english influence is declining and will continue to decline at a rapid pace. I know you will weep a lot at their ultimate demise but what can you do?

No, I am very much aware the British Empire is gone. But Britain as a country is not gone yet:

Britain has a larger economy than India, Britain has better infrastructure than India, Britain is more advanced than India, Britain exports more than India, Britain produces more oil than India, British currency is more powerful then India's peasant currency, British oil companies dominate the global market - India's do not. And I could continue all day listing things where Britain is far more influential and beats India., such as science, pharmaceuticals, technology etc etc

You must be very butt hurt than Britain today is still more important and powerful than India.

The arabs are not the daughters-in-law of england that they will always listen to england. If you had read history then you would know arabs are notorious for their fickle stance. If tomorrow Russia pays them 10 times money per barrel of oil they would happily backstab england.

The arabs are a complex political structure. They ally themselves with US but hate Israel who is a key American ally. They fund terrorism against US but also beg for US assistance. It is not black and white out there, everybody is looking after their own assistance. Tomorrow brazil comes up with a better offer then the arabs do business with brazil. How hard is that for you to understand?

The arabs are not having a sentimental bond with english.

And england is not the fastest growing economy. Go and consult your IMF charts to find out who are the top 5 fastest growing economies with at least 1 trillion dollar GDP. Brazil will demand more and more oil for their industries and will overtake smaller countries like england. What is stopping brazil from having their own oil exploration company instead of buying fron merican or foreign ones?

You are under the illusion that power stays the same forever. Power shifts constantly and irrespective of your fanboy support it is a fact that Europe or at lest EU is hopelessly dependent on Germany not england. Germany pulls out of EU and watch them crumble.

South Korea is growing as well and will play a major role in SEA but only if they manage to throw away US influence, the koreans are hopelessly tied with America.

Newer countries are emerging and in case you never herd that was the whole effing idea behind BRICS. BRICS is not a political or military alliance, it is a give and take relationship but it is a sign that the power structure is moving away from europe to other destinations. Are you blind not to see that?

Can england match Brazil or Indian nominal GDP in 2030? I am not asking per capita income but the GDP nominal. And don't act like europe and england do not have pressing economic issues of their own. America can drone bomb pakistan,. do a special forces raid and still arm twist pakistan to toe their line because America ships a cart load of foreign aid. Can england afford to hand over so much money? With what else will they keep a grip on their influence?

You must be a very servile chinese because Japan is still more powerful and influential than Hong Kong, even bangladesh has more international status than hong kong. But we are not tlking hong kong here, we are talking england so why don't you cute little boy stick to topic instead of talking about olympic medals and hong kong fishermen?

The arabs are not having a sentimental bond with english.

Indeed they don't, apart from that guy that helped the do their guerila war against the Turks. But, that's why there are military bases there and in the vicinity, British and belonging to others.

UK to establish £15m permanent Mid East military base - BBC News

UK forces plan three new bases in Middle East to fight Isis - Telegraph

Also, i'd love to read more about coal being a necessity for a 21st century economy and how the lack of it will cause the downfall of UK economy.

While your assertion about Germany (that it is the "pull" of EU) is somewhat correct (one of rare things youve been correct about) UK brings it's own quality to the table (expeditionary army, top notch schools, nukes, an advanced MIC to name just a few). And while we are on Germany, unlike how you allude, Germany will never quit as it's the biggest benefactor of common currency, common market. You're dreaming.

The resources you mention, will come from Africa, undoubtedly you've been inundated with propaganda how Chinese are buying up the whole continent while reality is :

The U.S., the U.K. and France still lead the foray. The three countries combined held the biggest share of Africa investments in 2012—the latest available data—totaling $178.2 billion. The so-called Brics countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa—collectivelyheld investments valued at $67.7 billion, of which $27.7 billion were Chinese.

The in-depth survey was compiled by the African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Program and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and launched in Kigali on Monday at the start of the ADB's annual meetings.

This is on top of Europe being biggest aid donor in the world and the ties that come with that. And on top of numerous military bases and installations in Africa.

Still butt hurt and still a retard I see. I have never seen someone write such utter crap, you must really have diarrhea for brains.

BRICS is failed:
1. The Brazilian economy is flatlining, its currency is loosing value and between 2014 and 2020 Brazil's Nominal GDP will stay at around 2.3 trillion.
2. Russian economy is being destroyed by US and EU sanctions and will shrink by 4% this year. The IMFs forecast says Russian economy will be worth 1.1 trillion in 2015.:sarcastic:
3. Indian economy is growing, but the population are poorer than cockroaches, has crap infrastructure and is a borderline failed state. Plus, Indian economy will still be smaller than the British economy in 2020.
4. South Africa is just irrelevant, don't even know why we included it as a member of the BRIC(S) to begin with.

Ultimately, the BRICS is all about China. Only China is performing strongly with powerful economy, modern infrastructure and number one exporting country and industrial power.

Britain is currently growing faster than all BRICS countries except China and India. Also, Britain has a larger economy than all BRICS countries except China. So once again, I think the UK is doing just fine.

Come on dude, India has the second largest population in the world!!! Yet you cannot even export more goods than countries like Mexico :omghaha: India is just a joke of the earth... and you know it

India = dog poo peasant country that nobody cares about.

Whats with you and butt-hurt, you go around sniffing butts, man?

The problems you are talking about BRICS holds true for EU, even more so because the cracks in EU are more apparent. Greece is a glaring example. Portugal, Spain, Italy are all under economic strain and this indirectly leads to strain on the currency Euro.

You have not given any valid reason for why england will continue to remain an influential power. All you can come up here is butthurt butthurt butthurt, I know its paining in your behind but you better consult a doc.

I have explained time and again why a small country with a small population and no resources can NOT have global influence and you come up with terms like butt-hurt and olympic medals tally. What is wrong with you mickey mouse, do you think you sound cool?

Other countries are coming up and will take center stage. Political alliances are changing, newer economies are emerging and they will hold clout. As newer economies arise they will be pushing away the older powers and hold new influence. It is going to be a multi-polar word and england, more specifically EU will no longer hold any sway.

You tried to come here with your mickey mouse logic and all you can do is bring India and olympic medals. Well India is a 2 trillion dollar economy, growing fast and will continue to grow fast and is one of world's largest markets. That is why you have India as the service sector hub.

Do not troll here like a fish seller when you have no idea about politics or economics. Go back to your barn and go to sleep. You are a waste of oxygen.

India = dog poo peasant country that nobody cares about.

China = dirty slave of japan that nobody cares about.

Just like China have achieved success we will also achieve success very soon. . I agree with you we are much behind UK. Things will change in decade time. And you will see it.
Till then you are right.

.
The so-call chinese success is mass production of goods using slave labour, dumping of goods while protecting their own markets and artificial devaluation of their currency. Another 5 years and china will be facing the pinch of their knee-jerk economic policies just like they are facing an aging population right now.

That fellow is a troll who is jealous of India, just reply him back in his language.

This thread is about the diminishing english influence and not about India or any other country.

I am sorry I have said some horrible things about India, but Indian Patriot is a real idiot and has no clue about anything. So I felt the need to return the favour to him.

I very much believe India will succeed like China too, India is too big to fail and has a huge and young working age population that will propel India to a bright future. Plus I think it is about time that countries like China and India start to take their fair share of world power.

And I am glad you agree on the UK, while they are no longer an Empire ruling the whole world, they still remain an important country today. Unfortunately, Indian Patriot is just too hateful to accept this.

No need to say sorry buddy. And Thanks for your honest and kind reply. It is historic fact our countries had bigger share of world economy. But both of our countries suffered a lot in recent centuries. You are right it is time for us to take back our position.
Don't take some people(and our media :D) here seriously. Actually ordinary Indians appreciate China for its economic growth. We look towards China as a role model for economic development. There are some negative views and distrust for China because of 1962. But we want peace with China not war. We hope there will be some solution for border issue during Modi's China visit. Let's hope for best.

.
@Ceonwulf - LOL, who do you think you are? You are just an ordinary chinese and unlike a democracy chinese have no say in their state policy. Your opinion on India makes no difference to ground realities. So keep your opinion and fake apologies to yourself pal, it does not matter to anybody.

I had clearly stated why english influence is declining and why england is a nobody. And all you could come up with is a tally of olympic medals, how poor India is and your obsession with english servitude. In short you were trolling because you are too dumb to talk facts.

You are a sorry excuse for a person who suffers from a deep rooted inferiority complex who cannot see the changing ground realities.

It is not both of the countries but India who had a bigger share in past history but unfortunately that was in the past. India used to account for almost 25 percent of world GDP. No other country came that close. It was this very wealth of India that attracted so many invaders.

India had suffered economically thanks to European colonialism. The british were there but so were the dutch (who later made an early exit), the french and also the portugese. But what hurt India most was the socialist economic model. If India had adopted for a fair, honest and competitive market economy then the boom you are seeing since the 90s could have been achieved by the 70s.

But this thread is not about India but the decline of england and english influence.

The english had influence till the end of second world war, while some would argue that the start of second world war itself signalled the end of english influence and the emergence of US and USSR as new world powers. The Suez Canal crisis was the final nail in the coffin where an adventurous english-french invasion was scuttled under US pressure. The english were never the same again and constantly hid behind American shadows.

England on its own cannot influence or command international events or lobby against other country's foreign policy. The US can, not england. And this is a plain fact which some blind english fan boys here cannot see or refuse to see. New economies are emerging and england will be pushed back further and further away like it is being pushed now.

Talk about england in THIS thread if you can.

I am not here to sing false praises of any country here or wrongly degrade any country. If people don't like reading facts then it is a sign of their inferiority complex and it is their problem.

Sorry brother if any of my post offended you. I was just trying to be realistic.
On topic: you are right UK don't have much influence on today's world. But it is also true they are not that insignificant. They are still ahead of us in many aspects.

1. I am highly suspect of an opinion piece that claims to know how the White House feels about our relations with the United Kingdom.

2. Speaking as a tax paying citizen of the United States, I absolutely feel the relationship is still very important

I am not upset about your posts. I just wanted to say don't take that ceonwulf guy seriously. He is trolling against India because as you know chinese love India a lot.

Saying that england has a lot of influence is like saying Bill Gates is still extremely rich because he has 990 MILLION dollars. Anybody would agree that 990 million dollars is a lot of money. But a more observant person would point out that while 990 million is a lot bill gates actually had nearly 70 BILLION dollars. So from a billionaire bill gates would have plummeted to being a millionaire.

The same is true for england. They used to rule the planet, no denying that. From USA to many parts of chine and SEA the union javk used to fly high. But where are these english today?

Let us discuss why USA and to an extent Russia (not USSR) has so much influence.

1. Geographical mass - Both are big countries and are strategically located. While Russia can look into europe and Asia with great ease the position of USA is like an impregnable fortress. They also have the benefit of having easy access to both Atlantic and Pacific. Japan and SEA is withing reach of US just as easily as europe.

england does not have a landmass or strategic location.

2. Population and industrial output - US has a population of around 300 million if I am not mistaken but some of the biggest names in corporate world are American. Thanks to outsourcing the production capacity in mainland US may not be as stellar as it was 2 decades back but they are still leaders. Russia during soviet era was the king of heavy industrial machinery. Ironically that was also one of the reason for their economic fall.

Like US the Russians also have a sizeable population which means greater labour force. The english cannot match the labour force - skilled and unskilled - of either Russia or USA. And in coming years and a decade or two the english won't be able to match the labour force of emerging economies.

3. Economy and military - An economy is dependent on three factors viz. labor, infrastructure, natural resources. US is a leader in all three departments while Russian infrastructure may need improvement it has a ridiculously HUGE amount of natural resource wealth. Name any mineral on earth and the Russians will be having it.

Does england have oil, iron and coal to fuel their industrial output?

Militarily both US and Russia are heavy weights as seen by the crisis in ME and Ukraine. How many battles has england fought ALONE? How many military equipment has england exported? How many countries use english tanks, fighter jets, ships, missiles? The world arms market is dominated by US and Russia. Even France has a better military export routine than the english who fail miserably in coming up with modern weapon systems.

In 21st century there are many countries who are ambitious and hungry. US and Russia have the aforementioned 3 advantages. What defence does england have against the ambition of other emerging economies? As the years progress england will be pushed further and further into darkness.

1. I am highly suspect of an opinion piece that claims to know how the White House feels about our relations with the United Kingdom.

2. Speaking as a tax paying citizen of the United States, I absolutely feel the relationship is still very important

1. The relationship is special because of historical and cultural reasons.

2. From a strictly pragmatic point of view it would serve US more if they engage Germany in Europe, Russia and a certain mammoth country in Asia which has naked hegemonistic ambitions in SEA.

Germany might be feasible but Russia and the Asian are off-limits for obvious reasons.
