French & Russians push stopgap submarine sales

What happened to the plan of leasing one more Akula???? There were rumors of it few months back

That was only a very early consideration, to lease 2 subs, but neither is the 2nd sub ready, nor is it clear how long and at what cost it would come. It's definitely not an alternative for the SSK shortage at the moment and would have more importance to deal with the lack of SSNs.
I recently saw an interview with a former navy admiral, which also stated that it's actually unusal to to develop an SSBN first and later only an SSN, considering the latter is easier to develop. But that's just another prove on how silly we do indigenous development. Even the fact that DRDO develops an AIP instead of basic diesel-electric propulsions, batteries or such simple stuff and even worse, make other developments / procurements dependent on their system shows the problem.

On brighter side , now developing a SSN will be more easier .

But not because of the SSBN development, only because it shares the same propulsion and base systems. The requirements for an SSN would actually had been lower and therefor would be faster to develop, once the propulsion is ready.

Don't you think the present 83MW reactor not adequate for a SSN ??

Depends on the size I guess, but it's our first propulsion, reliability and security are the most important factors now.
