French National Front fails to win its regional election targets

@FrenchPilot

Do not worry,30 % is a huge score for a single party and the trend is an ascending one for sure.With the current situation they can only rise,it will take just another terror attack to reach 35% and so on,and so forth...there is no coming back from this as the current elites won't solve the crisis facing Europe.

Over here the politicians are like :

17 killed in Paris ; Solution ; Fight against the FN.
130 killed in Paris ; Solution ; Fight against FN.
Increasing unemployment rate ; Solution ; Fight against FN.
Crisis ; Solution : Fight against FN.
Poverty ; Solution ; Fight against FN
4.000 killed in Paris ; Solution ; Fight against FN.

etc. etc.

And seriously,i don't understand the so called "French democracy",millions of votes but ;

Only 2 seats out of 577 in the Parliament. (Even the "greens" got more seats by having less vote.)
0 Department over 101.
And now 0 Region over 13 !

If only we didn't have that joke of the second round,that permits every suspicious alliances....

i really cant understand the way the french voters think
The French that still vote for the same,AGAIN,AGAIN,AGAIN,and AGAIN, be like :

sounds kind of like the discourse we get here in India vs the current rw government.

also, does this have a bearing on the Presidential elections or will FN still go all out for the big one ?

IMO,it doesn't have any bearing on the Presidential elections,this party may have won 0 region,but they get more and more votes. (In the same elections it had ~11% in 2010 and now ~30%.) And when we see all the parties allied against one,we can be proud of the results. Maybe in the coming months,more and more will realize that they did the wrong thing......
And,some polls are giving Marine Le Pen first in 2017,but yet again the problem will be the second round....

National Front wins no region during the French regional elections

According to the Socialist French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, the National Front (FN) has not won any region in the second round of regional elections, last Sunday in France.

Pollsters in their first projections shortly after the close of polling already posed that the front failed to win in any region, not even in the three where the victory for the National Front in the first round last week had been very large.

Most regions move to the center-right opposition led by ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy and the socialists turn out to be in second place.

Sarkozy's Republicans come up with their allies in the French media to nearly 40 percent of the vote, the leftist candidates around 32 percent and the FN remained just shy of 30 percent.

Last week, the first round of regional elections was held. in these, the party of Marine Le Pen won almost 30 percent of the vote.

Voter turnout

Earlier Sunday it was announced that voter turnout at the polls was high. According to French media, a high turnout is though not a good omen for the FN. The FN is campaigning against the EU and against immigration.

The popularity of the front in a number of regions drove the Socialist Party of President Francois Hollande and the center-right opposition of former President Nicolas Sarkozy, into each other's arms.

Withdrawal

In three regions, the Socialists withdrew their candidate for the presidency. Many left-wing voters voted for center-right candidates in order to prevent a victory of the FN. The higher turnout in regions where the FN was strong on December 6, according to French media pointed to a large number of voters going to vote anyway to keep the front out.

Marine Le Pen does not take her loss too dramatically. She pointed out on Sunday that the front is the largest party in many regional parliaments. She thanked the voters " who had the courage and determination '' to vote for the FN, '' despite all the slander of (Prime Minister) and Valls (Parliament) Bart Lone ''.

First round

In six regions, the National Front last week received the most votes. In the northern region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais Picardie party leader Le Pen himself was heading the electoral list of her party, and she got 42 percent of the electorate behind her. Her 26-year-old niece Marion Maréchal-Le Pen achieved almost the same score in the southeastern region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

French National Front fails to win its regional election targets: exit polls| Reuters

@flamer84 So,finally after :

FN vs LR+UDI+MODEM+EELV+PS+FDG+PC ;
After a second round that permitted the "ennemies" to make suspicious alliances ;
After a prime minister that OPENLY called to vote to Sarkozy's party ;
The FN didn't win any region. :disagree:
But there is a positive thing. In 2002,1vs1,the FN candidate had ~17% and the other more than 82%. In 2015,the FN candidate has 43% and the other ~57%. :coffee:
Now wait,for the French to complain that nothing is done,they are being taken for fool,it's amazing. :chilli:

"Le "Front Républicain" remercie les Français pour leur forte mobilisation et leur souhaite de très joyeux attentats." :-)

Et aussi ;

"Le FN a perdu avec honneur en défendant ses idées.
Les autres ont gagné dans le déshonneur avec magouilles et mensonges"

Well, you win some you lose some. I thought this will happen anyway, despite FN good results in first round. I do agree with you though that Marie le Pen's and FN popularity will only increase these coming years.
There are several reasons for Marine Le Pen's popularity :
One, the traditional political parties (left wing as much as right wing) haven't been very successfull in tackling major problems like unemployment, decline of income of the middle class.
Secondly , the socialist party and president François Hollande haven't been conducting a left wing program. It's not very different from the right wing government under Sarkozy
Thirdly, many French are concerned with problems linked to immigrant populations, Islam, deprived suburbs. etc
Lastly, many French even think their problems are linked with the European Union and the Euro currency and theyprobably want to quit the EU. lol

However, I think Marine Le Pen doesn't propose any applicable solutions, apart from kicking out foreign criminals and quitting the European Union. Likewise, i don't think most French think Marine Le Pen is a serious option for being a candidate for the presidential election in 2017. But many French people are fed up with the traditional political parties, and some will vote Le Pen to sanction Hollande. :agree: Marine Le Pen knows that and she's clever enough to play the card of discontent amongst a major part of the French population.But then again, nobody cant blame her though that's how politics works, don't blame the player, blame the game.

So, like one Senior french politician said recently: the mainstream political establishment/parties better wake up now and reform/listen to and solve the people's complains before its too late, else if things continue this way, then expect the FN to become the dominant political party in France these coming years.:D

If the main parties were so good,that there was no problems,the FN wouldn't get such share of votes.... well,it wouldn't even exist !
The actual politicans,after every slap are like "French we understood you,we will work" bla bla bla.
If you see the FN loosing more and more voters,that'll mean that the current parties work well,in the interest of the people etc.
If the FN continue to rise,then it means they didn't do their job correctly,that more and more do not trust the main parties.
In 5 years,this party in the same elections got 11% and now 30%. And it will not stop.

The French want a real and strong opposition party,we do not want to be like the US where there is only 2 parties and not a real strong opposition...

.
If FN win, I expect they sort out delinquency problem and immigration problem. Oh also the famous "burqah? Problem. That's all.

Will they be able to sort out economics problems ? Especially unemployment one ? I'm not sure about it...

.
Putin funds FN because FN wants France out of the EU and achieve French independence.
