After retesting samples, French hospital discovers Covid-19 case from December
2 hours ago

PARIS (REUTERS) - A French hospital which has retested old samples from pneumonia patients discovered that it treated a man who had Covid-19 as early as Dec 27, nearly a month before the French government confirmed its first cases.

Yves Cohen, head of resuscitation at the Avicenne and Jean Verdier hospitals in the northern suburbs of Paris, told BFM TV that scientists had retested samples from 24 patients treated in December and January who tested negative for the flu.

So the disease has been spreading covertly even before it was officially detected.

The French team looked at people admitted to the hospital with flu-like illness between December 2 and January 16 who were not ultimately diagnosed with influenza. They tested frozen samples from those patients for coronavirus.
"One sample was positive taken from a 42 year old man born in Algeria, who lived in France for many years, and worked as a fishmonger," the team wrote. "His last trip was in Algeria during August 2019."
The man had not been to China, and one of his children had also been sick, the team reported.

"Identifying the first infected patient is of great epidemiological interest as it changes dramatically our knowledge regarding SARS-COV-2 and its spreading in the country. Moreover, the absence of a link with China and the lack of recent travel suggest that the disease was already spreading among the French population at the end of December, 2019," they wrote.
Europe did not start reporting cases of coronavirus until January. In Italy, the European country hit hardest by the virus, the first two cases were reported on Jan 31, in two Chinese tourists in Rome. The first known community transmission was recorded at the end of February in Codogno, northern Italy.

And the case didn't have travel history to China. Last travel, Aug 2019 to Algeria. It was a community transmission, admitted on Dec. 27.

Ditto USA too. I already said there were people showing pneumonia symptoms in the San Francisco Bay area last November and December even though it was very hot it was surprising to see people with chest infections in the area, no doubt it was COVID.

Remember the vaping cases, they banned vaping for a spike in pneumonia? US cases is now so much that its not possible its from China it must have been spreading earlier.

the US and NATO already knew of COVID way back in late November 2019, by the end of 2019, it was beginning to be a common knowledge. So COVID probably originate much earlier in september 2019,.

It could have been brought back to the US by a tourist from Wuhan,China. Everything is conjecture at the moment and no clear timeline.

S cases is now so much that its not possible its from China it must have been spreading earlier.

the chinese CCP patriots are now playing another game, i-e nobody utside china got COVID from china, some articles earlier posted said, japan, europe didn't get from China, now they are insisting USA too didn't get from china.

They earler line of action was China got it from the USA, now they have taken another line as US origin prpaganda not working i-e nobody got it from china

its not possible that COVID had multiple centres origin, and in that case, china is a guarenteed culprit.

Bhai, I don't know what's the truth now. Be scientific, let WHO form a multinational team and then investigate. Don't be so fast to pass judgement. The US had been experimenting on Bioweapons since Tuskergee.

So the disease has been spreading covertly even before it was officially detected.
It is now a fact Covid-19 has been spreading covertly in the US.

New postmortem tests reveal COVID-19 began spreading in US in January, mistaken for flu
23 Apr 2020
SACRAMENTO, California: COVID-19 was already circulating in California in January, weeks earlier than thought, and early deaths were likely mistaken for the flu, a county health official said on Wednesday (Apr 22).

So much for a LOSER SuperPower that cannot diagnost a new viral disease that China a developing country was able to, and an INCOMPETENT US took weeks to develop a proper test kit.

US must retest all those MYSTERIOUS VAPING DEATHS in 2019 that have EXACTLY the same characteristics as covid-19.
Vaping deaths that ONLY HAPPENED in the US but nowhere else where vaping is also widespread.

Not surprised if many of those turn out to be COVID-19

(CNN) There's new evidence that the coronavirus may have been in France weeks earlier than was previously thought.

Doctors at a Paris hospital say they've found evidence that one patient admitted in December was infected with Covid-19. If verified, this finding would show that the virus was already circulating in Europe at that time -- well before the first known cases were diagnosed in France or hotspot Italy.

"Covid-19 was already spreading in France in late December 2019, a month before the official first cases in the country," the team at Groupe Hospitalier Paris Seine in Saint-Denis wrote in a study published Sunday in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents.

The first official reports of Covid-19 in France were reported on Jan. 24, in two people who had a history of travel to Wuhan, China.

Intensive care specialist Dr. Yves Cohen and his hospital colleagues wrote that they decided to check the records of earlier patients, in case the virus had been spreading undetected.
Researchers in the US have also started finding evidence that the virus was infecting and killing people earlier than the country's first reported cases.
