It seems our Indian friends have missed the point yet again. No matter how many times we explain it, it doesn't seem to register, so let me try it once again.
The basic issue here is "truth in advertising" and selective discrimination.
KSA does not claim to be a secular country; therefore, it can enact laws based on a religious foundation. We don't complain, just as we don't complain when the Vatican decides to ignore Italian federal laws and ban homosexuality and other acts in Vatican City.
China has a clear policy vis-a-vis all religions; it does not single out Muslims as compared to Christians or anyone else. One can debate the merits but, as long as the policy is consistently applied, there is no room for complaint.
France, on the other hand, claims to be a secular country, yet it has more Christian holy days as official holidays than Muslim countries do for Muslim holy days. The firing here was clearly motivated by religious bigotry. You cannot fire people for something they might do, based on your own exaggerated fears. The fact that they rehired shows they knew they were in the wrong, and that we are right in pointing out why it was wrong.
Nonsense argument. The government of Pakistan is not involved here; only Pakistani posters.
By your logic, we shouldn't hear a peep out of Indians about ANY issue in the world until India eradicates that particular issue within India itself.
it is the people of Pakistan which makes it's govt and constitution .. what we are having is a small representation of Pakistan.
it is not about what one claims and what is actually getting.. there can be mistakes .. imperfections but at least they think it's necessary that they declare their country as secular..other wise it's is injustice to the minority .
is it ok if India become a Hindu theocratic state and bans all other religions except Hindu ?
Indian Hindus can say look we are not claiming to be secular so we can ban , restrict any religion.
we can only have a Hindu prime minister .
you can't marry a Hindu girl/boy unless you convert as a Hindu ?
can all these be morally justified ?
won't that we a injustice ?
so it's a lame argument you are putting " we / they are not claiming so it's ok to do ?
if you don't even have the moral sense that your brothers from other religion also require equal statues.
my friend if you don't even feel it's a good / necessary thing to be secular then you don't have the moral right to cry .
and all I see here is selection criticism
if China, saudi, pak, and France does the same thing ,you criticise France only because French promised to be secular democratic while other countries does not even considered becoming secular democratic .. they didn't even give a chance to their citizen to be treated as equal and enjoy the freedom.
so what France did this time is wrong..
but what other theocratic, dictatorship did will not became right only because they did not provide the right in the first place ..
so bottom line is don't be hyppocratic while criticising.
