Wel here is France coming with its aircraft carrier to support military operations in Afghanistan. Whats their interest is? I am not sure, but will it be a threat to Iran? I am not sure. Will it be beneficial for Pakistan, and will it get time to exercise with French Navy? I am not sure. Lets see what happens. ;)

KABUL, Afghanistan - France will deploy a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier off Pakistan next month so its war planes can support military operations in neighboring Afghanistan ahead of an expected increase in rebel violence, a French general said on Wednesday.

About 20 reconnaissance and combat aircraft will operate from the Charles de Gaulle carrier and will fly back and forth through Pakistani airspace into Afghanistan, said Gen. Henri Bentegeat, the French Chief of Defense Staff.
The ship will be stationed in international waters near Pakistan from May 5-25, he said.

The war-planes will support both NATO troops, who are gradually expanding their area of operations into southern Afghanistan, as well as U.S.-led coalition forces, who have been hunting Taleban and Al Qaida remnants since 2001, Bentegeat told reporters in Kabul.

He said Paris decided to deploy the extra force at this time because of an expected increase in attacks by insurgents as warmer spring weather melts snow on high mountain passes the militants use.

Last year was the deadliest in Afghanistan since the Taleban were ousted in 2001 and U.S. officials have said they expect it to get even worse this year.
France has about 900 troops in Afghanistan, most of them are members of the NATO force while about 200 special forces operate in the country’s volatile south as part of the U.S.-led coalition.

The Charles de Gaulle has twice before deployed to the region to take part in activities in Afghanistan, once in 2002 and again in 2003.

@ France had no experience to fight against insurgents. I remember after the surrender of Japanese after Second World War, France got back the lost territories of Indo-China (Vietnam,Combodia and Loas) but just within 8 to 9 years lost everything and by 1954 the Vietnam was divided into two and finally handed over to great USA. USA continue to fight there still 1974 but had to withdrew un-conditionally.

@ Let them come, let them concentrate and finally they will be blasted by the Telebans and the same situation will happen like Indo-China. History repeats itself.

@ I will request my Pakistani friends :pakistan:be prepared to collect these abondoned war materials which would be left by these NATO forces. And I am sure no need to collect, these things they themselves will handover to you before withdrawing. And my dearest Indian friends will be jealous like anything.
