The Economic Coordination Committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad today.
It was decided that four IPPs would be converted to coal which will save sixty billion rupees per year.
It was also decided that tax relief will be given to PIA to acquire planes on lease.
It also decided to divert eighty-five million cubic feet gas presently being provided to the power sector to the industry with immediate effect especially the export oriented sector to take full advantage of GSP plus facility.
The ECC noted that the decision will check unemployment‚ maintain the present momentum of growth besides earning foreign exchange for the country.
The ECC also decided that NEPRA be directed to determine the tariff of Hubco‚ Lalpir‚ Pakgen and Saba power plants in 45 days following due process.
The ECC decided that aircraft acquired by airlines on lease would be charged taxes on monthly basis instead of calculating on the total period of lease.
