Former Punjab University VC arrested

LAHORE: Former vice chairman of Punjab University Mujahid Kamran has been arrested on charges of corruption and irregularities, Geo reported.

Kamran was formally taken into custody after he appeared at the NAB office to record his statement.

The former VC is accused of committing gross irregularities during his stint at the varsity.

He is alleged to have providing jobs at the university in violation of the laws.

In addition, he is accused of illegally appointing his wife Shazia Qureshi as the principal of Punjab University Law College and for awarding scholarships to students through favouritism, as well as awarding contracts to his “preferred” contractors in violation of the laws.

Its common knowledge... Mrs Shazia Kamran replaced Prof Sammi Uzair as out HoD.... however she did 1 good job.. cleaned out Jamat e Islami... and changed the system (Co-ed).

Howevet favouritism was rife.... her own “promotion” was flawed.. both she and VC got foreign tours and scholarships unlawfully.

I heard.its done by current vc of UOS and yesterday they terminated a prof javed iqbal on sexual harrasment case.who was bro in law of this arrested vc. Many uni peoole calling it politics done by current vc.

Do you know she was an AP ? how can an AP be appointed as HOD? When there were several seniors available for the post?


Sami Uzair and other ppl had personal issues with VC... whom even female profs had accused of sexual advances and whatnot...

However I do like Dr Shazia for doing her bit for PULC.

Dr. Mujahid married Dr. Shazia after divorce from first wife. Dr. Shazia cannot be his student because the two are in distinct fields. Why his marriage an issue?
