The youth whose body was found inside a suspected militant hideout in Dhaka's Azimpur when police busted it had possibly committed suicide by slitting his own throat with a knife, says the doctor who conducted the autopsy.

The post-mortem examination was carried out at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday afternoon.

Afterwards, DMCH forensic department's Assistant Professor Md Sohel Mahmud said, "There was a knife wound on the left side of the youth's throat. He died from excessive blood loss from this wound."

He said the wound appeared to be self-inflicted. "As if the youth held the knife in his right hand and slit the left side of his throat. That's why we believe it was a case of suicide."

Prof Mahmud also said there were five smaller knife wounds on the youth's body.

"There was also a burn injury on his right hand. We think it was caused by a bomb blast," the doctor told bdnews24.com.

On Saturday night, police raided the six-storey building at Azimpur neighbourhood, near one of the entrances to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters.

The body of the youth was found inside the house during the raid, which also left three suspected female militants, who were also detained, and five policemen injured.

After the operation, police said the youth's face was similar to one 'Abdul Karim', who had assisted the gunmen in the Jul 1 Gulshan cafe attack.

The cafe killers had stayed at an apartment in the Bashundhara Residential Area rented by Karim before the attack, according to police.

However, on Sunday morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com that a teenage boy rescued from the Azimpur home told them that the dead man was his father 'Jamshed', who hails from Rajshahi.

Along with the boy, two girls were also rescued from the house. They are currently kept at the police's Victim Support Centre, officials said.

One of three detained women was shot in the stomach during the raid. The two other women had sharp weapon wounds. Police said they might have tried to commit suicide.

Terrorist commuting suicide by slitting his throat. Yeah right! He didn't shoot himself in the head or blow himself up. Amazing.

Just another day at the job for Bangla Forensic "Experts".

It is easy to determine whether the throat slit is self inflicted or not. It needs ABC knowledge of Forensic. Right Handed person while committing suicide cuts Downwords from left to Right with lots of Hesitation marks at the start. Try it on your throat using fingers and you will realize.

Bangladesh Police successfully extracted informations from arrested terrorists. Every raid gave clue about next terrorist shelter. It is quite normal that they preferred to die instead of getting caught Alive.

I just don't know where will they end up because of the suicide. Hell or Heaven?
