Three aircraft inducted into PN fleet​

KARACHI, April 12: The Pakistan Navy enhanced on Saturday its airborne early warning, reconnaissance and fighting capabilities by inducting two Alouette and one Fokker aircraft into the naval aviation fleet.

The Pakistan Navy claims it has modified the Fokker aircraft with state-of-the-art sensors and weapons required in maritime operations.

If you see the Fokker interior photos it seems that its more of a passenger version than an EW version.

I don't think it will be used for EW but more likely it will be used to fly naval VIPs.

i don't know why pak gov stop fokkers for ever when incedent happen first they say we graund now all fokkers but latter they use again this dangrus bird.when PAF fokker crashed at 20 fabervary 2003.we lose our air chef marshal but fokkers stil in service.after that PIA fokker crashed in multan so many lifes we lose.same day presedent order to graund all fokkers .PIA says now fokkers only use for cargo but presedent refuse that .now they enter in navy for what ?

The Alouette helicopters are former French Navy machines. The deal was initially conceived nearly 3 years ago when Adm Shahid Karimullah was still CNS. The deal was publicised during his final days in office and was for 6 helo's and worth US$600,000. Although I am not aware if this price comprised just the 6 helo's plus any re-work required or spares, but $600,000 seems to be the right kind of price based on market conditions for these machines. NAA did visit France where the helo's were stored, but at some point after the deal faltered.

Negotiations were pursued once more early last year via a UK based company for the very same helo's. I am unable to give the actual facts as to why the original deal fell through or why the second deal was routed through a uK based company. I can however only persume that as with most deals which happen the world over, the middleman in this case happened to be a UK company whereas previously it was being discussed directly with the French government. Does this type of business mechanism sound familiar to anyone?
