Fleet Tanker PNS NASR to Gwadar with 1200 tons of fresh/drinking water.

Saudi Arabia: 27 [desalination planst] have now been constructed in the Kingdom, supplying 70% of the country’s drinking water as well as more than 28 million megawatts of electricity. The [world's largest] plant [ in SA], which cost 16 billion Saudi Ryals (US$ 3.8 billion) is expected to create 800,000 cubic meters of water ... , as well as generate 2,750 megawatts of electricity. Like other countries on the Arabian Peninsula, including many of the Emirate states, desalination has proven to be the most effective way of solving the country’s water needs.

Granted, they are stting on a lot of oil, which allows them not only to fund such projects but also to operate such plants at relatively low fuel cost.
Are u sure the 28 "million" megawat figure is correct?

No 28 million megawatts is wrong its 2400 megawatts

The Prevalent scarcity of water in Balochistan due scanty water resources and marginal rains is affecting the common man to such a level that the situation needs to be addressed.

Being aware of the situation, Pakistan Navy utilizing its resources promptly dispatched its Fleet Tanker PNS NASR to Gwadar with 1200 tons of fresh/drinking water. The Ship reached yesterday at Gwadar port and distribution of water to area residents has been made in coordination with local District Administration. The fresh water supply by Pakistan Navy is paying the dividends and the situation in Gwadar City has improved. Commander West Navy, Commodore Ovais Hyder Zaidi is presently supervising the said relief efforts on behalf of Pakistan Navy.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan Navy, having its operational bases and adequate presence at coastal belt, is actively pursuing various development projects especially at Gwadar and Ormara. Pakistan Navy would continue to provide all out assistance through its relief and rehabilitation support, whether it be an earthquake, flood or any natural calamity to ease out miseries of populace.

Does anybody know how costly is it to transport 1200 ton water? Pakistan should rather put in place a desalination plant at Gwadar with the use of solar power so that they may have fresh drinking water available all the time.

Shipping in water is a short term and expensive solution.

Desalination is an expensive alternative but one that must me pursued irrespective.

Building dams and containing runoff rain water is the best short and medium term solution.

If they don't solve the water problem quickly... forget all the dreams about a grand Gwadar at the scale of Dubai.

I'm very happy . Finally a step is taken to resolve the problems of the poor .
I've not lost faith in pakistan.

You got to work water conservation and production from both ends: industrial scale plus at the level of individual households and businesses.

Why don't we get help from Brother country Saudia , and they can help just 2 Desalination projects

1 Gawadar
2 Karachi

I would imagine they would be expert in Water Desalination projects by now

Takes a lot of money big bro.....probably the amount the CPEC will end up using upon its completion....this project was around $76 billion....
China is increasing CPEC amount. First total projects were worth 46 billion dollars now they plan to invest 55 more and it would increase further. I think India can't understand what CPEC really is. 46 Billion Dollars was just a start it would go to several hundreds.

Long term solution would be expensive one but what I have a idea in my mind I don't know How applicable that is but is it possible that Pakistan makes massive man made Canals almost size of river from famous rivers in KPK towards Baluchistan down to Gwadar and make storage facilities in Baluchistan I mean dams in Baluchistan to keep the water ????

Welcome, you should have started a long time ago to join economical discussions! Economy and social welfare is the key to military strength and a higher budget availability.

To the topic:

It's a tragic situation, every year the same, Navy has to supply water to the people of Balochistan, how seriously we can take than the efficient of the CEPEC and government, when we are not able to provide necessary things like clean drinking water, education, social and health welfare and security!

Man just set up a desalination plant and wind based moisture to water plant
