First Turkish Naval task group accomplishes mission

Having accomplished its mission in the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas, Turkey's first Naval task force returned to its own waters on Tuesday.

The task force’s first mission was to support peace, contribute to naval security, and boost bilateral relations by performing joint exercises and training with other countries in the region.

Established under the auspices of the Naval Forces Command of Turkey, the task force returned to Aksaz Naval Base in Marmaris after visiting ports in nine countries in the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas between May 10 and July 5, Anatolia news agency reported.

The fleet included four frigates and a logistical support ship, sailed for 754 hours and traveled 8,000 nautical miles.

This expedition was Turkey’s first Naval task force.
