First Snowfall of the Season at My American Home!

@ghazi52 : Has the Nor' Eastern affected you?? I think you are in NJ area, right? I have a friend in Vermont; he told me last night the blizzard has bypassed him but ambient temp yesterday was -1 F with windchill down to -25 F. Burrrr!! He is moving permanently down South in March as he has taken early retirement. One more 'yank' moving to the South but rural/sub-urban yanks are okay!

Yesterday, at my house, it was in 40s F; sunny but strong very chilly winds. A flock of wild turkeys visited our home. I captured this through the window of our sunroom. There were more in the woods. I think if the supply problems don't improve and meat not available in the stores then there are wild turkeys to shoot! Technically, you can't kill them unless some license and unless in right season / place. But nobody is around here to catch me. A man has got to do what a man has got to do, right?!!

Not that much, away from shore, but NYC was effected.

Living so far from even mid sized cities deprives us of Desi food. We crave it! But we use various Shaan spices and Indian/Pakistani pickles (Achaar) to try to satisfy our cravings. So why now today when the sun is out and it's about 50 F / 10 C, with very cold winds.
So here is some Pakistani chicken tikka with grilled veggies and Raita. They may not taste 'authentic' and may look strange but they are heavenly good for us!

Bhai you forgot to Invite me to the BBQ :)

Why do you live in the woods brother?

Sometimes even I'm beginning to wonder about it. I can safely say that majority of the awake hours per week, I don't see a single soul. I love the nature around me for the most part but I have my doubts too. Winters, with their short, dark, cold days, feel particular worse.

As I said in the OP, the first sign of Spring is the wild daffodils blooming and they are blooming. Hard to get close to to them this year because of a fallen tree from last spring, and lots of very thorny bushes. Unfortunately, a plum tree has also prematurely bloomed, which means the bloom is likely to get 'bit' by the cold weather and no pollination and no fruit--not even for squirrels and raccoons. Last two nights were 27 degrees Fahrenheit! This has been a colder winter than I remember in many decades but I love cold--as long as it's sunny cold, like today. The temp. in last 6-7 weeks has stayed below freezing most nights.
So am I excited about the arrival of Spring season? Yes! April is my favorite month of the year. But snakes will come out in April. As would be bumble bees and hornets.

Same in the US. You are pretty much required to go the school in your neighborhood. However in Boston they had desegregated busing where they would shuffle kids all around so that kids from the inner city would theoretically have a better learning experience...but instead of busing the kids who really wanted that better experience they randomly picked people instead...who didn't want to be there.
homeschooling is an option these days

It is still cold enough to run the heater at night. This feels like a long cold winter. But there is fruit trees bloom. In this pic, you see Nectarines, Plums, Peaches and Apricots trees blooming. Leaf buds are out on the pomegranate bushes, and the pear trees. And tiny ones on the apple trees as well. My favorite time of the year and hate to see anyone dying in endless, unnecessary wars anywhere in the world. Life is too beautiful.

Our cat enjoying warm sun. And scallions onion survived the winter and was delicious, including its green shoots. The tiller is already working the ground....

OK, now I officially want to shoot you and take over your land. ;) How big is your field to plow?

Hahaha! Literally 5-6 acres is untouched--ploughable! Lots of trees. I am a tree hugger, I think!

5 acres are probably the limit for a family to handle a vegetable farm. Planting fruit trees is probably more manageable. What do you plan to do with these acres? :)
