First shipment of Pakistani mangoes reach U.S. market

KARACHI: The first shipment of Pakistani mangoes has been exported successfully exported to United States of America (USA), ARY News reported.
According to Pakistan’s diplomatic official in Washington, the first shipment comprising Sindhri mangoes reached Houston and Texas market while more shipments for Houston market will be delivered within two weeks.
Sindhri’s acceptability is much higher than other varieties because of its taste, rate, smell and juicy nature.
Following U.S. Department of Agriculture approval of irradiated mangoes from Pakistan, the country began exporting to the U.S. in 2011. Pakistan India and Thailand, which both began shipping irradiated mangoes to the U.S. in 2007.
United States is the biggest importer of mangoes in the world with 43.2 percent share in global imports.
