Thats an awesome news.. imagine the power of a salvo mode cruise missiles... just wish the range to be extended a bit.. a stealth frigate moving in quietly and then in 1 minute firing all the 8 brahmos and taking out say 8 different targets.. this is meeting a textbook requirement for any defense strategist.. only thing is the range.. anything arnd 1000km is much more feasible.. arnd 500 kms means the ship needs far more advanced stealth measures... hope our folks work on both the things-- stealthier ships and longer range brahmos

The warship launched Brahmos is the anti-ship version and there is no way to reliably track and get a missile lock on a ship at 400+ km away.So the 300 km range is quite good enough. If you look at other anti-ship cruise missiles you would see that most of them have shorter range than present Brahmos AShM.

The range can not go beyond 300 km because of MTCR guidelines.. If it would have been solo Indian project, then you could have imagined so...

What is the meaning of First salvo launch supersonic cruise missiles ???

I think the author means VLS launched.

BrahMos isn't the first supersonics Cruise Missile launched from VLS. :coffee:

It's actually quite obvious what that means.

Please explain.
The definition of a salvo:
A salvo is the simultaneous discharge of artillery or firearms including the firing of guns either to hit a target or to perform a salute.

So, what this news is reporting is that the IN conducted the first SALVO launch of SUPERSONIC CMs. Whilst in the past such CMs might have been launched individually or at greater intervals in this instance the interval was only 3 seconds so effectively simultaneous launches hence a SALVO.

Nyet.. The SLAVA and KIROV class were all capable of and test launched supersonic cruise missiles. The Kirov I believe was actually demonstrated with launching SS-19s at such intervals.

Sorry, but the need to say "first" ,"tallest", "largest" etc is a subcontinent thing. They thing they've conquered the world at the smallest of achievements.

First in world? I doubt it. Anyway may be fastest as 3 second is quite fast for a cruise missile. Not sure though.

SS-19 :woot: is an ICBM, i expected something better from a MOD atleast but nvr mind the quality of this forum is really going down the drain...:ashamed:
SS(N)-19 Shipwreck. I expect better understanding from members rather than pathetic cheap shots that reeks of their low grade mentality and rather limited I.Q.

When referring to Sea launched weapons, one would look to reference the Soviet Sea weapons designation rather than look at the Land Based designation.
