What's new

First part of "China's Grand Strategy", an essay I'm writing

The grand strategy is...

First is to get rich and advanced as fast as possible.

Social development and social culture are second, and assumed they will automatically developed if economy issue solved.

Build military to defend the economy growth, there will be a lot of noises.

Share China development success to the rest of the world.

Thats it.

I agree with this. WE should be incorporated into the Eurasian scheme in some way (a free trade area? Large currency swaps?). But in some ways, I think Europe is (or will become) more hostile to China's economic advancement than America - or at least hostile in different ways. The only reason Europe is a player on the world stage is that it has advanced technology. The US has that and its strategic alliances.

Currently, Europe seems to be much less ideological in their approach to China than the US. This can be seen in many fields, even in academia, in which I work.

I can say that publishing in a European SSCI journal is much easier than publishing in a similar-quality US journal. Even US academia is more hostile.

As for future, I guess Europe as an independent political entity is more amenable for China than one closely attached to the US. Therefore, I would say, keeping close trade and other type of relations with WE is a strategic prerequisite for a complete Eurasian project.

The way Europe stands against the US in many international regimes such as climate change and the Iran deal shows Europe may have a desire to pursue more balanced foreign policy-although we can hardly think of a unified EU foreign policy.

Arm Hezbollah with nuclear backpacks. Israel is destroyed. Wall Street collapses. USA enters civil war. All of China's peripheral pressures (South China Sea, Indian border disputes, East China Sea and Taiwan) immediately disappear.
