First Indian C-17 Comes Together

.
did anyone noticed... they promised to deliver all within a year period or so....
"First May-June 2013.... All ten aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2014"
Russian and European firms should learn from it....
Would they do the same in case of war ? History says Russian ,French and Israeli support was excellent during war time . The use of weapons is in war . Right ? In the other perspective , US wont sell its key primary weapons nor we buy as every one knows they impose conditions . If you have $$$ you can minimize delays . Yet US is finding tough time for F35 . :what:

I wasn't talking about War case scenario... it was about their work ethics to meet product delivery deadline. Most of the stuff India is buying from US is not intended for offensive purpose... mostly transport and surveillance. So i don't think india will have problems in future.

Agree no one can beat Russia commitment to India, but u need to consider India Russia has more then 60 years of close relationship, US is new in this matter. Wait for 5/10 years....

Back to C-17, its hell of a plane... congratulations to India

Keep in mind that it's not a new aircraft, but is in production for a long time. There are enough US aircrafts that comes with technical issues and delays or cost-overruns as well. Ask the Canadians and their naval S92 helicopters:

...In 2004, after more than two decades of false starts and indecision, the federal government ordered up 28 Sikorsky Cyclones, a conceptualized version of Sikorsky’s civilian S-92 series that was not without its own problems. In 2009 a Sikorsky S-92A heading for an oilrig off Newfoundland crashed killing 17 aboard. The problem was a gearbox that was supposed to be able to run dry for 30 minutes, but couldn’t.

Deliveries of the Cyclones were to begin in 2009. It’s 2012 now, and there are none in sight. Late delivery fines have been imposed, but remain unpaid. It could be several more years before Sikorsky can deliver the helicopters that, by contract, should already be sitting on Canada’s ships and runways.

More than a million dollars has been spent to reconfigure the landing pads of two Canadian frigates to accommodate the Cyclones. They will now have to be re-reconfigured for continued use of the Sea Kings, then re-re-reconfigured if and when the Cyclones eventually arrive...

Senator Colin Kenny

Europe has it's issues with NH90 and A400 as well, but the 100th NH90 will be delivered now and A400 is in the final production stage for first delivery as well. Russia or India can definitely learn from western countries, but I don't see Europe beeing behind the US, the planning and production is just more difficult, when you have different partners.
