What's new

First fully developed muslim country is about to emerge.. Equalizing Europe

.
It's because Turkey made the decision to stop living in the 1300's and to modernize and to get with the times instead of living in the past.

It shows other muslim nations that if they choose to live like it's still the 1300's, they can't expect to be anything like Turkey.

It's amazing to see how liberal and modern the Turkish people are now.

What is a "fully developed" country? We are not talking about baking a cake.

Even the US wouldn't claim to be "fully developed". It's an ongoing race...

God forbid this Ottoman glory.. We are not after glory.. We are chasing economic development.. Chasing glory what you you find is war, destruction.. god forbid.. Better it is to be a free, democratic liberal country without any glory..

Frankly, i'm sick of these competition games especially from U.S, China, Germany, Korea, India, Israel, etc.....

I'm amazed to see that the meaning of 'developed' is taken into a very negative way by many. The countries that i have listed believe that the ideal meaning of 'developed' is through 'wealth measure' and clearly the more competition these countries will be engaged in, the more they will contradict the meaning of 'democracy'.

Though some may disagree, i believe countries like Finland and Sweden or 'Scandinavians' have the best model in the entire world. These are people who believe that 'everyone needs to be given equal chance', notwithstanding of whom you might be.

Lets start with education. These are the very same people that make kids (all) start (public) school at the age of 7 and have them with a teacher that will be their until high school. Their system is so alarming in that it makes one harder to become a teacher, but easier to become accountants and engineers. Though we might seem to see it very awkwardly, as a matter of fact, the point they try to their citizens is that anything relating to social benefit is a challenge and one who succeeds upon the competition will be regarded as 'most respected'. Now anyone can believe now why Finland as a prime example here is ranked # 1 even though they never wanted to have the intentions to.

With having one of the lowest unemployment rates, but having one of highest rates in education and health care spending compared with other countries I can see why they are the happiest people in the world. In my view, this by all means is defined as trully 'developed'

THIS GOES ON TO SHOW THAT IF INTENTIONS ARE GOOD THAN NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!

It's very hard to scale up the Scandinavian model beyond a certain size. That's why these countries don't want to join the EU.

Japan tried the welfare state model on a big scale and found out its shortcomings. There is always a tussle between providing a basic standard of life for everyone in society, and rewarding hard work on the other. There has to be a reason for people to get out of bed and go to work in the morning.

Competition is necessary for survival because there is always a fight for scarce resources, and the other guy is not sitting still. That is why the idea of being 'fully developed' is a dangerous mindset.

Well many things can be argued here, however i will try to be very brief...

It depends on a country's system of interest. Of course what i'm giving you an example of explicitly deals with socialism. Here you usually don't create the mindset for scarce resource in your people. I wont deny the fact that population plays a pivotal role. When there is supply, there is demand. But even if we have to take this into consideration, what really is another ideal world out there. Should we be like Communist China, that makes its people work into like machines (leaving individual choice of life aside) Or should we be like American Capitalists (free market) that creates disparity among community in a sense where you have a guy having monopolies and the other that has his/her house prone to foreclosure...
