The construction of gate has resumed and Afghan checkposts were lit. That is certainly not someone who would be scared. However I agree our response should have been more aggressive. A thrashing so bad that they would think 10times before engaging us again in a battle.

shouting and chest thumping leads to Syria Iraq Afghanistan and Libya like situation.....

compare todays Pakistan with 2007... not only in regards to terrorism , but also in regards to standing up to US, india, Afghanistan or any other real or delusional superpower or superhumans.....

this is how real life works... the right way is slow and painful... wrong way is chest thumping like our eastern and western neighbours do...

Pakistan, Afghanistan agree on ceasefire along border

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to observe a ceasefire along the Torkham Border, the diplomatic sources disclosed on Wednesday.

According to the these sources Afghan Ambassador have called the Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz and asked to help solve the dispute through diplomatic means.

The Aghan Ambassador has returned from Afghanistan a day before after attending national security meeting in Kabul.

“Both the countries have come to this conclusion that Torkham dispute should be resolved through diplomatic efforts,” the sources said.

Pakistan and Afghan forces exchanged fire late Sunday over construction on the Pakistani side of the border.

The United States has also called on Afghanistan and Pakistan to peacefully resolve their tension as the clash on Torkham border entered its fourth day.

Ceasefire has been announced. Hopefully it stays that way but on the table we must make sure afghanistan understands that we will create border regulations and the gate at torkham. The work at the gate must continue.

We would react the same as Afghanistan if India built the gate in JAK.

We won't object to gates/fence/wall on the international border with India but we will in Kashmir because it is an internationally recognised disputed area and India cannot construct these things their. On the other hand the Durand line is the international border and not considered disputed and Afghan objections are invalid!

Lets see if the ceasefire holds (dont have high hopes of ANA). Construction of the border post should however not cease one moment.

This has nothing to do with india it's blow to their afghan pride since the start they voted against recognition of pakistan and very nearly went to war with iran in the past too even before they got friendly with th indians.This is everything to do with their claims on durand line and pakistan building a gate and securing the area will invalidate their claim.
Afghanistan has always been full of sectarianism and extremely belligerent they are their own worst enemy.We all know who will ultimately lose as history as shown in every pak-afghan border clash and I don't want conflict for the afghans sake even after decades of occupation, internal strife and millions of their people fleeing the country their thirst for war against their biggest trade partner and host to their refugees(that too in ramadan) shows their foolishness but they started it and pakistan will protect itself .I hope they come to their senses afghanistan already looks like a post-apocalyptic hell hole they shouldn't bring more suffering upon themselves.Hopefully we will finish building the gate,the afghans will just have to suck it up and accept the status quo and things will go back to normal afghans will once again allowed to enter pakistan providing they have permission through the proper legal channels just like the rest of the world.
