A new project will establish Finnish-style schools in Jeddah, where Saudi teachers can develop their pedagogical skills.
Subsidiary companies owned by Jyväskylä University and King Abdulaziz University have agreed a contract to bring Finnish-style schooling to the Saudi education system.
The contract to develop primary education lasts for five years. The intention is to build several units that will make up a world-class education and pedagogy centre, starting from a kindergarten. It will involve some 50 person-years of work from the Finnish side.
According to a Jyväskylä University press release, the whole programme will focus on girls' and young women's education, and the training of female teachers.
