Finance Minister says ‘Pakistan’s basic debts are so big that we are near bankruptcy’

PTI should look at the conservative party in Britain. Before they bollocked up Brexit, they did quite well to sell their agenda of austerity. I didn't agree with all of it and I think a lot of it was mis-placed, but the way they sold it was very good.

Realistically the economic crisis won’t be over for another decade. It can ease over the next few years only if the right corrective measures are taken.

Pakistan is the Greece of our region. We have been living above our means. PML-N and PPP have absolutely destroyed Pak economy. Add to that the crushing cost of US war on terror and the picture is complete.

What did Pakistan get in return by voting for PML-N and PPP? What did Pakistan get by allying with the US? Everyone can do the math today.

The debt and loans are like a high fever. You can keep taking an aspirin, but the fever won’t disappear immediately. This will be a slow and painful process. That is the price you pay for electing and re-electing crooks.

Where are the distinguished former finance ministers of Pakistan Ishaq Dar and Shaukat Aziz? I heard one is enjoying his vacation in the UK and the other is selling his country in the USA?

The bad news is that after PTI term we might get back to our old ways of electing crooks and thieves. In other words, from recovery back to thievery and corruption.
It would be over in next 2-3 years..we ahve seen a surprisingly good speed of recovery

Problem is that we will vote back corrupt people as we did in 2008 after similar crisis in 1998

It will take time to overcome deficit. Just need consistency in policies. Give government 10 years minimum.

its not 72 saal bhai just reverse it to 2007 and all will be well
Bhai, tab mein itna bara nahi tha k politics ko samajh sakta, so have no clue about situation at that time.

Baki Allah pak se dua hai ke hamein bhi koi bande ka bache mile jo Pakistan aur Pakistanion ka soche aur kisi individual ka nahi, Hope for the best.

I hope so, but I think it will take a little longer. We are underestimating the huge burden of loans. It really eats up much of the budget. Having said that, what is really needed are some good economic policies that can generate revenue in the short as well as the long term.

Another huge stumble block we are not mentioning in this discussion is politics. Pakistan is not favored by many economic world powers for the plethora of reasons we discuss to death on PDF. China and KSA are perhaps the only exceptions. That certainly also plays a major part in our economic woes.

As long as governments do not pay attention to education there is no easy escape. As a nation we can become indispensable by educating massive swathes of our society. The world cannot ignore an army of young educated work force. Pakistan has the potential of becoming a major knowledge driven economy. Pakistan needs to invest massively in quality education for all Pakistanis. We have youth masses that are thirsty for education. They can contribute massively to the economy of Pakistan. This is the long term solution. We have to learn from other examples. Look at China and South Korea as an example. These nations woke up and invested in their most valuable asset known as HUMAN RESOURCE. Invest in the IT sector. There is massive scope in the IT services sector and this trend will continue for years to come. There’s a serious shortage of high tech IT experts the world over. There are many areas in which Pakistan could educate their young population and prepare an army of highly skilled laborers. The government needs to invest in sectors that are future proof and are economically beneficial. Such smart policies generate massive revenues in decades to come.

The keyword is education.

looted money is not enough to cover loans and situation

I did not give any mashwara, but merely pointed out that it is a decision to be made by the present government under PMIK's leadership to decide whether to take more loans or not. Either choice will come with its own sets of pros and cons.
Bahi koi aesa tareeka batao kai loan hum lain aur likha pichli hakomat kai khatey mai jaye?
