I think we're massively under productive as a country. If we increased our productivity, to average standards we'd likely double our growth. Double digit growth is not that outlandish.

Lots can be done on a micro and macro level to do that. There are hundreds of examples per business.

A few simple examples of the top of my head...

- e governance to reduce paperwork to setup businesses and streamline taxation.
- automation instead of manual effort
- e-commerce platforms to access larger markets.
- use of modern farming techniques to increase yield.

- standardised sizes for dresses

-standardised sizes for doors in residential properties.

Basically we need to unleash an army of lean 6 sigma practitioners across our industries.

It's a private and public effort.

It really is, thats the tragedy of it all. There is a reason expats moving to Pakistan are able to set up businesses and make a success of them with relative ease. We've worked in much more efficient environments. The biggest hurdle is government incompetence/corruption.

Why are you being deliberately obtuse?

Here is a simple example, use machinery to lay tarmac on roads instead of men with shovels.

You need 1 person to do the job of multiple and they can do it quicker.

Use an electric saw instead of a manual one.

Use a drill rather than a screw driver.

Yes it involves some initial investment in equipment but it gets jobs done faster. It means your worker can do more in the same time, it means you can deliver faster, so you can take on more work etc.

Let’s take agriculture as an example. Our cotton per acre yield (productivity) is around one half of India and one quarter of China. Similar for all major/minor crops.

Like @313ghazi said. If we reach average productivity in these produce over next few years, we will see double digit growth.
