Duterte is concerned about the prospect that Washington, the former colonial power in the Philippines, might want to manipulate his country against China, Gerald Horne, historian, told RT. Brian Becker of the AntiWar coalition also joins the conversation.
The Philippines' President Rodrigo Duterte delivered foul-mouthed rants about global bodies and other senior world officials. Moreover, he threatened to leave the UN after the organization labeled his war on drugs 'criminal'. He also lashed out at America.

His personal feelings do not mean he can lash out whenever he feels like it. Plenty of leaders are irritated in the course of their dealings with other countries but they learn to control their temper and behave in a diplomatic fashion. If he can't do this then he has no business being President.
He should remember that, although he wants a deal over the islands, without the US backing him up he's likely to get nothing.

This guy is a total clown. Without the u.s providing protection. China would have been building in scarborough now.

His local policies are good, but how he talks in regards to foreign policy is disturbing considering that he lashes out the US while willing to compromise with China that is keen on taking the PH EEZ away from the PH.

...and yes, I am already expecting a certain brigade to call me out as a traitor and American puppet as that is the only thing they could think of.

The build up is on the books. The US back PH up or not is not a matter of concern. The US used to back up PH back in 2012...

The US used to back up anti-Syrian terrorists, as well. Look where they are now.

A country head using foul mouth in the open? I mean sure even Henry Kissinger (though not a President) and Richard Nixon were known effing mouthed but they kept their vitriolic vocabulary in the confines of their offices. There is a decorum required of a head of state and words count. And grace counts even bigger.

By Jan 1974, south vn was not an ally of the u.s anymore.

LOL, if you say so.
BTW, we even capture a US prisoner along with vietnmese on the battle.:usflag:

Aftermath[edit]
A potential diplomatic crisis was averted when China released the American prisoner taken during the battle. Gerald Emil Kosh, 27, a former U.S. Army captain, was captured with the Vietnamese on Pattle Island. He was described as a “regional liaison officer” for the American embassy in Saigon on assignment with the South Vietnamese Navy.[6] China released him from custody on January 31 without comment.

The u.s is daring china to reclaim but china chicken out.

Well, where is the US navy when we reclaim other islands?
