Hi,
The stupidest questions some engineers ask is----the temperature didnot get to 1400 or 2000 deg for the steel to melt----
To those idiots---at that temp steel is water---the ribbed / tor steel has already lost its integrity---tensile strength at temperatures between 600---800 degrees---the bars have become malleable and ductile---.
Yes aircraft hit and evaporate---living close to hill air force base---many a times I read about F 16's crashing into the great salt lake---and bare minimum metal was found----plane totally disintegrated---and that just hitting the water---.
