FGFA: Sukhoi says work to continue; no need for JV agreement

Its a little confusing,Report says India has invested in this project both financially and technically and yet they are not going for a partnership and they will still work togather !!!

What kind of partnership is this, when both are working together!!
Or this means that HAL will not be partners but others are !!! =S

He said the joint work could be carried out under the current agreement. HAL is said to be looking for 25 per cent stake in the JV, which will produce a lighter, twin-seater version of the futuristic fighter capable of taking on the US F-22 and F-35 fighters.

"We will do our part of the work, our Indian counterparts theirs. At the initial stage it is not necessary to have a joint venture," Pogasyan said.

Some agreement is already there, must be sufficient for continuing work. Russians would not give us credit for nothing.

Use of composites, to reduce the weight.

India, Russia to have different versions of same fighter plane: India Today

India would bring into play its expertise in composites, lightweight high-strength materials that significantly bring down the weight of an aeronautical platform.

It's simple, Russia developed the Pak Fa prototypes and India joined as a minor partner in this. India wanted to have an own version of it, with twin and some other design features, but as many expected it seems to end up with just a twin seat version of the Pak Fa. Which means the real differences might be in avionics, weapons and possibly comosites only.
India is a partner, because it funded the development and will have it's own part in production too, similar to EF, F35 partners.

A JV is not required as of yet. It would be signed when the production of FGFA beings in HAL which is still years away.

Right now all the work is being done in Russia and by Russia. Even FGFA would be designed by Russia, India would only select what all things it needs in it.

When the production is brought to HAL, that is when a JV would be signed to produce them here in India.

^ rightly said. but russia did't have composite combination in their planes, so we need to make it own for our FGFA

Sancho , i think explains it better

India is an equal partner in all this, we are funding development 50-50, and Russia and India share the Intellectual rights. We are a minor partner only in terms of technical expertise.

Sukhoi Company (JSC) - News - News

“Today we’ve embarked on an extensive flight test programme of the 5th generation fighter. This is a great success of both Russian science and design school. This achievement rests upon a cooperation team comprised of more than a hundred of our suppliers and strategic partners. PAK FA programme advances Russian aeronautics together with allied industries to an entirely new technological level. These aircraft, together with upgraded 4th generation fighters will define Russian Air Force potential for the next decades. Sukhoi plans to further elaborate on the PAK FA programme which will involve our Indian partners. I am strongly convinced that our joint project will excel its Western rivals in cost-effectiveness and will not only allow strengthening the defense power of Russian and Indian Air Forces, but also gain a significant share of the world market”, - said Mikhail Pogosyan, Sukhoi Company Director General commenting on the launch of the flight test programme.

By Sukhoi's own admission we are doing some of the work

"We will do our part of the work, our Indian counterparts theirs. At the initial stage it is not necessary to have a joint venture," Pogasyan said.

We are looking for an agreement to get 25% work share minimum.

But Sukhoi feels Work can carry on now , without and agreement at least initially.

In order for India to work on the PAK-FA and build the FGFA , HAL has to study Sukhoi's work so far , which is in the process of being done.

This , is where actual ToT transfer in happening.

The end result of which is 5th gen fighter that can be produced in India , by Hal . It will be as Indian as the Brahmos missile before it.
In Fact the Brhamos programme is a template for how this joint venture might operate.

bt the deal is nt signed yet..

and PAK fa is 100% russian.

i think it is the same case like MKI
you picked up su 30 and modified it as per your requirements

i thought PAK FA IS A JV..

well brother just read the thread one more time with open eyes :cheesy:

and be ready the plane will be in India sky in future :yahoo:

you should think how will you counter :flame:

You Known this is how we Indians do. We dont believe in hard work, we are more inclined towards smart work.:azn:

Even if its not a jv it will still be better then the so called jv of f35. We will have greater rights and freedom than uk,japan, etc.

What make you think that if they don't sign a JV makes FGFA 100% Russian? Didn't you see earlier news reports? India will still have 25% of the technologies and 50% of the development costs, so Russia can't do anything alone.
considering 30 Billion program cost indicated by ptdm (refering to putin) 5 Billion is only 17%:coffee:
