I was spitballing an idea for trading more valuable Organic crops for less expensive non-organics. If Oraganics fetch twice the price of non-organics, it may work out to grow and export 1 pound of organic rice and import two pounds of non-organic rice (less transport costs). One cannot feed a nation on organics, but trade is a different idea. It is same as growing coffee. tea or cocoa (if the geography permits) and exporting it to earn money to import rice and beans. This is the trading model of many Central American countries that are sometimes derisively called Banana republics. Many are actually coffee, quinoa, acai republics now.
