Female chess players protest wearing hijab at Iran world championship

It's not about knowing what naked means but it mostly about where you would draw red line ... different societies and cultures resulted in the different red lines ....

Isn't drawing a red line to covering your hair a little bit extreme ? Especially if the rest of the outfit is decent enough. It's not like they're be playing chess in swimming suits or mini skirts.

Although I agree with Hejab I am not a fan of it be mandatory ... but when people voted a constitution and laws was written base on that then everybody should respect it ... but even while it's mandatory it's not enforced and most of women follow the latest fashion and style .... all countries have their own red lines and enforce it in their own ways but the point is no matter where or how you draw red lines all societies and countries have some boundaries of outfit to follow ... so basically all countries are extreme to some extend with different degrees regarding mother of nature suggesting us to be naked ...
But the same women in Iran constitute 65% of universities entrances and enjoy academic study even more than men , we have women as minister, MP, teacher even bus and taxi driver .. I mean Hejab doesn't prevent you from being a successful minister, Mp, Student, doctor, scientist , taxi driver , mom or athlete in Iran how it could be considered as an obstacale when it comes to chess?

Well the ones who wont attend will make a self checkmate as they try to make a political statement out of a sport competition. I wonder how much the chess federation like it.
By the way it seems on the matter. Law is with Iran.
Stop trying to be wannabe Arabs!
I support this protest to the fullest! :(

whatever but let me tell you something , in Iran we had some sort of veils even before Arabs. maybe I'm just supporting old Iranian tradition.
by the way what I said is a fact, and before I forget do you knew the scarf in the first image I posted and you quoted is an Italian designed BLUMARINE Oblong scarf and worth more than 100 Euro.

Just curious my friend, what about belly dancing ? Is that old Iranian tradition?

Veils and head scarves were first recorded in the Arab world like so much else.

"The first recorded instance of veiling for women is recorded in an Assyrian legal text from the 13th century BC, which restricted its use to noble women and forbade prostitutes and common women from adopting it.[3]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veil#History

Arab female nobility had similar customs regardless of religion (Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hanifs, ancient pre-Abrahamic Semitic religions)

So your claim is incorrect.

no that's old Arab tradition and I'm not an Arab Wannabe.8-)

More bullshit. Belly dance is not only an Arab tradition but a Middle Eastern custom. Besides similar dances are found all across the world.

Well, you use an Arabic alphabet, Arabic names, a religion given to you by Arab conquerors, half of the vocabulary of your language (Farsi) derives from Arabic, your leadership is Iranian Arab or claims to be that at least etc. You Iranians are many times more "Arab wannabes" than Arabs are "Iranian wannabes". So is everyone in the MENA region and Muslim world for that matter.

Nope they have dark skin.

Btw this is an Iranian woman:

And a saudi one:

There is no difference in skin color cretin. Hilariously enough you posted a photo of a swarthy Iranian girl (of unknown ethnicity) and a supposed Saudi Arabian women (the photo was clearly taken in the West and the chance of her being Saudi Arabia is 0,1%) who happens to be very pale.

Anyway you should worry about more plastic surgeries and removing more big noses and hairy bodies. You top those lists by far.

As for beauty, Arabian beauty is world famous and Arab women are some of the most sought after women. Basically half of Latin American models have Arab ancestry. Go on almost every online forum and in such pools Arab girls are leading.

If somebody can't compete chess wearing these set of clothes I don't knew what clothes they can compete in

or something like these

this link will show you what you can find in Tehran,

What abnormality is that? They look like circus clowns with 1 ton of makeup. Is that supposed to be modest?

For instance those Saudi Arabian girls below, despite some of them not wearing a veil, appear much more modest and respectful.

.
Hijab can look very good, they shouldn't complain so much and adapt

. .
I thought it was more Berber tradition....could be wrong though.
its originated in south eastern part of Mediterranean.
and I'm sure one of our friends who claim Egyptian and Assyrian were Arab will come and Claim it Arabic.
