Fearing Economic Competitor, US Launches Full-Scale Confrontation With China

CHINA will need to keep swallowing anger and humiliation to sustain, other than that who are they gonna export to
China's nominal GDP is about $14 trillion (due to currency appreciation) for 2018.

China's exports are $2 trillion per year. The US accounts for 18% of Chinese exports.

This means Chinese exports to the US represent 2.5% of Chinese GDP.

If the US halted all Chinese exports to the United States then China's GDP suffers a one-time loss of 2.5%, which is negligible.

The long-term solution to replace the US market is for China to reclaim Outer Mongolia and establish a population of 300 million Hans to buy "exports" from mainland China.

We Chinese are pragmatic and realistic: when we're still weak we will swallow anger while we still able to milk US to boost our economy and defense but when we're facing a weaker opponent such as India, not only we can vent our anger but have a trade surplus at the same time.

American still never learn the lesson on how our ancestors had deal with the HUN, we have endured over hundred years of frustration and humiliation until China was strong enough under Han Wu Di to settle the score with these barbarians and chase them out of their own homeland.

Hundred year ago .Lu Xun wrote "The True Story of Ah Q" to potray Ah Q as Cnese character. After 100 year, amazingly, Ah Q character still exactly for Cnese now

The story traces the "adventures" of Ah Q, a man from the rural peasant class with little education and no definite occupation. Ah Q is famous for "spiritual victories", Lu Xun's euphemism for self-talk and self-deception even when faced with extreme defeat or humiliation. Ah Q is a bully to the less fortunate but fearful of those who are above him in rank, strength, or power. He persuades himself mentally that he is spiritually "superior" to his oppressors even as he succumbs to their tyranny and suppression. Lu Xun exposes Ah Q's extreme faults as symptomatic of the Chinese national character of his time. The ending of the piece – when Ah Q is carted off to execution for a minor crime – is equally poignant and satirical.

Lu Xun entitled to his opinion regarding some inferior complex Chineses and old mentality people but not all Chinese are mentally retards otherwise you wouldn't see a nation rise from nothing to a 2nd economical power of this world with merely 40 years. I hope you will live long enough to see how far China will rise, when Vietnam see the glorified China as during Tang Dynasty, your people will crawl back to Beijing and begging us to take you back as our tributary state and learn Chinese script as your ancestors did.

U are a good example to explain Lu Xun must wrote "Ah Q story". Thats why all Vnese admire Lu Xun, the Cnese dare to tell the truth abt Cnese character.

As the story, Ah Q got bad ending wt his 'spiritual victory', so same ending for Cnese in his time and Cnese now. Million jobs loss in steel, , Aluminum, Solar panel sectors , Cnese crawling around the lake to save cheap job etc but u guys still brag how 'powerful and smart' u are.

Okay, like I said, wait till 2023 everyone will see a big chaos in CN due to Trump's trade war and TPP

Well pretty obvious the Chinese do not understand that yet.

Humiliation is what makes China grow, the day that they give it up, it's just another sick man. Jingjing jing knows that.

Smart man.

who humiliated them??

Its a new cold war against China, but unlike the old USSR the Americans are facing economically powerful adversary that is beating it in its own capitalist game. The Chinese have deep pockets unlike the USSR so the cold war will be fought on other countries i.e countries like BD will be on the chopping block.

Another data you had shared earlier also showed that the value-added for the US by the US companies exporting from China is about 4.2% of the total value. That's stinkingly lower than many other countries the US does export from, including Mexico.

This explains why the US financial-economic threats do not impress China's policy makers. At the point, China is not more dependent on the US economy than vice versa.

China's sovereign foreign policy comes from this freedom, which is quite different from politically subjugated and tamed, half-sovereign Japan and SK.

What remains for the US is to turn fascist and sending little Rubio barking at China's Confucius Institutes as part of a new Red Scare.

You can call me what ever you want and no matter what you say, VN is always a worthless nation, it's nothing but a chess piece that Great Powers had manipulated and disposed when it served no purpose.

From now, I can feel the bitter in your comments. So should ask yourself Why Vnese is so smart to predict correctly the doomsday of CN

The exposure could be larger if you include Hong Kong as part of China as the 15% Chinese Exports to HK are further exported to other countries? Also, if Japan, SK, ASEAN, UK & EU join US then the impact would be larger.

man. should America and China come to a showdown you will lose everything not only the trade volumes with America!

The US can forbid banks around the world to trade in Dollars. How do you want to pay for the imports? By Yuan? Ok some countries may accept, but most not. Your trillions dollars wealth would be worthless. US allies from Germany to Japan will halt trades with China.

Millions of Chinese would lose jobs and incomes. Mass revolts would occur on public streets. Chinese overseas factories and assets could be seized by the US. China could return to riding on bicycles.

But ok, you can trade with Vietnam. We have natural resources and may accept Yuan. Xi Jinping can be relax. He can continue to advance a policy of intimidation in the Far East after his term is extended for eternity.

Firstly, you should know which country is the world biggest market now. It's China, not US anymore. Germany and other western countries wouldn't be that stupid to side with second largest and more and more conservative market to counter their biggest customer.

Secondly, US dollar will lose it dominant position if US cuts business with China. On one hand, China can junk US dollar with its huge currency reserves and bond. On the other hand, US dollar will be less useful if it can not be used in all business with biggest market and world biggest industry country.
