QUETTA:
The Frontier Corps (FC) on Tuesday night seized a huge quantity of explosives, including remote control bombs and other material used in crafting explosives.

Commandant Ghaza band Scout, a wing of the Frontier Corps, Colonel Maqbool told reporters that the FC foiled an attempt to carry out a major terrorist attack in the provincial capital and recovered a huge quantity of explosive material as it raided a godown in Satellite Town area.

Colonel Maqbool said they captured over 100,000kg of explosive material that included potassium chloride, aluminum, 9 remote control bombs along with other complete material, 3 bundles of detonators, 78 bundles of circuit wires, 2,800kg sulfur, 15,000kg aluminum powder and 80 drums of acid. He said that FC troops raided the godown on the information provided by two persons who were arrested on Monday night along a truck as they were transferring a truckload of potassium chloride and aluminum.

Maqbool said at least 10 suspected militants had been arrested and handed over to the concerned authorities for interrogation. “The same material was used in huge explosions carried out in different areas of Quetta that claimed over 200 casualties early this year,” he said.

QUETTA: Frontier Corps (FC) said Wednesday that a car bomb factory where troops confiscated more than 100 tones of chemicals had been used in recent attacks on troops and the Shia community.
Paramilitary troops found wires, detonators and mixers to turn the chemicals into bombs during Tuesday’s raid in Quetta.

Eleven people have now been arrested in connection with the case and the owner of the compound has been detained for questioning, said a spokesman for FC.

Suspects told investigators that potassium chlorate and ammonium chlorate had been packed with wires and detonators into vehicles at the compound, a paramilitary official said.
Experts believe the compound was effectively a bomb-making factory, which had prepared explosives used in recent bomb attacks on military targets and Shias.

“We have recovered a machine which is basically a mixer, used to mix chemicals to make bombs. We have recovered sulphur and hundreds metre of wire,” said the FC spokesman.

“We have also recovered 79 remote controls and short circuit wires. Some 20,000 kilograms of explosive were ready at the factory and just needed to be fitted into vehicles,” he added.

It is hard to feel sorry for these extremists who continue to wreak havoc upon the nation. Time after time we find these homegrown insurgents threatening the safety of the nation. We applaud the Pakistani forces for sending a stern message to these enemies of peace. We are working hard on both sides of the border to negate the threat of terrorism. Our partnership with Pakistan is based on our shared principles against terrorism. Our common belief against terrorism has allowed us to overcome many obstacles and challenges in our decade long partnership. Pakistan has been a key ally in the fight against terror, and we hope to remain unified against those who are working against our peace efforts in the region.

 from where the hell they get such huge amount of explosive ?

Thank those security forces when you go to sleep today people of Pakistan because a major, major terrorist attack has been foiled and averted.

I still honestly believe though that the performance of security forces has been very pathetic against the terrorists. We must eliminate the terrorists as brutally as possible but instead not one top commander of the TTP (Pakistani Taliban) has been eliminated by us Pakistanis. We must ensure we defeat the terrorists or we will have no standing left in the world anymore.

What the hell were they upto? That's hell load of explosives.. We need to do a lot more to cut their supply lines to make them weak..

Friggin hell!

100 tons? That is enough to destroy Quetta twice.

So that is where all that explosive captured every other day in bedford trucks goes to.

THESE XPLOSIVES SHOULD B SENT BACK 2 AFGHANISTAN ND IRAN WHERE IT CAME FROM ND SHOULD B GIVEN 2 THE MUJAHIDEENS OF AFGHANISTAN SO THT THEY CAN USE IT AGAINST THE AMERICANS WHO R OCCUPYING THEIR LAND ND THEIR PUPPY AFGHAN ARMY= NOTHERN ALLIANCE DRUG LORDS ARMY. THANKS

oh you back again ISIIII?? using caps wont help you in convincing other people. try to avoid rhetoric and calm down a bit

Buying hundreds of kilos of potassium chlorate sacks requires some serious cash , as is cash required for hundreds of car/van batteries , same for the cables and detonators , remote controls , where is the funding coming from ?
Iran is definitely involved; we should pay them back in the same coin in Sistan.
Indian too should be targeted and removed from afghanistan

QUETTA: Security forces Wednesday night detained former Nazim Quetta, Mir Maqbool Ahmed Lehri of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in connection with seizure of more than 100 tons of explosives from a warehouse in the Balochistan capital, raided on Tuesday.

An official of the Frontier Corps, who did not wish to be named, told Dawn.com that police backed by security forces arrested Lehri from his residence late on Wednesday night.

Lehri is the provincial leader of Pakistan People’s Party. He had served as the city Nazim during former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s regime.

The FC official said senior police and security officers were interrogating the former Nazim for allegedly possessing explosive materials.

He said Mir Maqbool Ahmed Lehri was the owner of the warehouse where forces had recovered 100 tons of explosive materials from on Tuesday.

The FC had foiled a major bid of terrorism by seizing 104,480 kilogram of explosives and arresting ten suspected militants.

“For the first time such huge quantity of explosive material has been seized in the history of country,” FC commandant Colonel Maqbool Ahmed said.

Another paramilitary official earlier on Wednesday said that the warehouse where troops confiscated more than 100 tons of chemicals had been used in recent attacks on troops and minority Shia Muslims.
