NEW DELHI: International money laundering watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) can anytime blacklist Pakistan for terror financing, defence minister Rajnath Singh claimed on Tuesday.

In August, the Asia Pacific Group of the FATF had put Pakistan in a terror 'blacklist' for its failure to curb funnelling of funds to groups responsible for attacks in India, international media reported.

“International agency FATF can blacklist Pakistan for terror financing,” he said at the Defence Accounts Department day event. Paris-based FATF is an inter-governmental body that promotes effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the international financial system.

Singh observed that national security has become a multi-dimensional concept, economic, strength, food and energy security and environmental protection are its key aspects. It is prudent for an emerging economy like India to have good financial management, Singh said.

“Our neighbour is a living example of financial mismanagement,” he said. An official in the Pakistani government, however, rebuffed Indian claim saying that how come India already knew such information.

He said that India is lobbying with countries to put Pakistan in the blacklist of FATF, calling for a national consensus and political commitment to undertake measures to come out of the grey-list of the FATF.

He said that Pakistan has so far been meeting all the conditions and indicators show that the country is improving in controlling money laundering and terror financing. He said that many measures have been taken and a number or organisations have been banned and their properties confiscated.

He said that new scanners have been installed at the border points to check currency smuggling, and all the state organs a closely cooperating with each other to meet the targets set by FATF. He said that India would never succeed in its conspiracy against Pakistan.

India is just the front face of all the aggression but in reality, its the American deep state which is pulling the strings from behind the scene, specially in FATF.

When PMIK in his UN speech took a dig at the western countries complicity at facilitating and making it easier for the looters and plunderers of the third world, so they can park their ill gotten wealth in the western countries banks and assets, IK was infact telling FATF to get its act together and play by the rules. Otherwise we are looking at major disruption and perhaps introduction of a new parallel financial system, independent and outside the control of existing one. You cannot have your cake and eat it, thats the message went from GOP to FATF and its movers and shakers.

Rabbit hole goes much deeper. Acceptance of Indian hegemony and its Kashmir action, pushing Pakistan away from CPEC and acceptance of Israel as a state are major points of greater agenda.

This will turn ugly. Wont be surprised if we are heading towards a parallel financial system used by China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey to begin with. Because if we don't , we will be crushed further till our existence as state is no longer viable. Ofcourse the biggest prize of all, our nukes.

With US and India putting pressure and even Saudis not very much in your corner it looks very difficult

China, Turkey and Malaysia will save Pakistan from the blacklist but Pakistan will stay on the grey list till they remain useful to USA in Afghanistan. But if Pakistan doesn't bent to US'wishes then blacklisting is a real posibility.

There is a much higher chance of pakistan being removed from greylist. Despite all the noise, I think US wont let pakistan fail completely. Atleast not unless something very serious happens.
