WANA: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, said on Thursday during the inaugration of the Sheikh Zaid bin Sultan Nahyan road, that the fate of the people of South Waziristan would change and construction and development projects would soon be initiated in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan, DawnNews reported.
Gen Kayani was on a visit of the South Waziristan tribal region along with other senior military officials to inaugrate the Sheikh Bin Sultan Nahyan road which would serve as the third trade corridor between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
On the occasion, the army chief was briefed about the prevailing law and order situation in the region.
Kayani said that the local residents had played a vital role for the restoration of peace in the region.
He added that the people were supporting the military and that an operation in South Waziristan was completed withing four days.
He further said that constructions of roads, water canals and irrigation systems in were underway.
Morover, General Ashfaq Kayani said that the displaced persons would be called back and rehabilitated.
