Update on Osprey Project I work for.. One of our GPS chicks 'Blue YD' aged 2 has made his first migration from W Africa and is currently in Scotland not far from us.. Our first surviving tagged chick! (we lost 2) . our elderly Osprey 'Lady' has laid 3 eggs near our office alas one was taken by a crow when the male was distracted. We are not too hopeful about the remaining eggs hatching as the Parents have shown unusual behaviour this year in leaving the eggs unincubated for long periods..due to her advanced age it is possible that her fertility is much reduced. Due to egg thieves we keep a 24 hour watch over the nest by one staff and one volunteer. We also have Night vision cameras. This is my view from the hide on my dawn watch the other week over the Loch (lake) and the male coming in to the nest. Here is live feed from the Nest Cam Loch of the Lowes webcam

Falconry in Al-Ain National Park:

I need to start doing falconry when I will be back in the ME. It's amazing and a great pastime to relax and to be close with the nature and animals, in this case birds. Meeting new people and traveling to new places.

So how is it going in Idaho @Desertfalcon ?

Great thread. I love birds of prey.

I'm trying to learn the art myself and would like to keep a Eurasian Eagle owl. I just have to persuade my wife.

Great! And yourself? I just got back from fishing today.View attachment 32773

That's great mate.

I was thinking about a trip to the Wild West sometime in the upcoming years. In particular Wyoming. Anything that you can recommend in particular in that area aside from Yellowstone?

It's just amazing that such a big state is so sparsely populated and that it is all mostly nature. I mean in the case of Wyoming.

Grand Teton national park is south of Yellowstone and well worth seeing along with the town of Jackson Hole, Wy. Cody, Wyoming has great museums (Buffalo Bill Center, Firearms Museum, art museums, etc.), restaurants, and a real traditional atmosphere.

Beautiful mate. This is the authentic Wild West.

I can highly recommend this documentary, my friend. It's KSA. Filmed in 1990.:)

Thanks! I will watch that when I get a chance. I forgot to post in this thread the picture of my new bird that you asked me about. Her she is again...

Beautiful catch, mate. She looks content. Congratulations. Whenever there is any news on the "falconry front" please share it with all of us here.

The same goes for @Capt P.H Young who I hope is doing well in England. Please update us as well.

Here is an article about a 16 year old Saudi Arabian who caught an rare falcon in mountainous and wild areas of Hijaz and then sold it for $30.000 to a rich businessman. Not bad.

Great pics! Love the two pics of the happy boy with his falcon. Interesting that neither of them are using a traditional Arab mangla, wrist glove, instead of the European style gloves they have.

Nowadays both types of wrist gloves are used. It depends on what the falconer prefers.
