An outrageous post is doing rounds on social media with a claim that China has sought its highest court's approval to kill 20,000 coronavirus patients.

Investigating the authenticity of the unbelievable claim, we found that they originated from an article published in a little-known website called ab-tc.com.

The article says that China has sought its highest court's permission to kill 20,000 coronavirus infected people.

The headline reads: China seeks court's approval to kill over 20,000 coronavirus patients to avoid further spread of the virus.

The article went on to claim that "Supreme People's Court is expected to give an approval on Friday for the mass killing of coronavirus patients in China as sure means of controlling the spread of the deadly virus".

Facebook user Chandrabhal Singh has posted a screenshot of the article by ab-tc.com and has made a claim in Hindi which in English read, "China has sought court's permission to shoot 20,000 coronavirus patients. There is speculation that China has already killed some patients."

India Today's Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim to be completely false as it is based on a report of a rather suspicious website.

Many social media users seem to have believed this news. Netizens have posted the same claim on Facebook and Twitter, attributing the information to ab-tc.com.

We ran a Google keyword search to verify the claim. We couldn't find any reliable source to confirm the news. Since the novel coronavirus outbreak is constantly making headlines across the world, it is impossible for global media to miss such a big development.

According to the latest news reports published on February 6, senior officials in China have been told to round up all infected residents for mass quarantine camps. At the time of writing this article, China Global Television Network (CGTN), the state-backed broadcaster, more than 630 people have died and over 31,000 are infected. None of the media outlets have mentioned about any move to kill infected people.

We searched for related news on the Chinese Supreme Court's website but couldn't find anything. We also found that they have published many fake news articles in the past. It had published false news about the death of celebrity couple Connie Ferguson and Shona Ferguson. It had also published doctored tweets of US President Donald Trump. It proves that they have a history of publishing fake news.

We also searched the domain details of ab-tc.com and found that except for the name of the province, it didn't mention anything such as office address, city name, email ID, etc, which is unusual for a reliable news website. Though the website is based in Guandong, China, its content is mostly about developments in the US. So, it is clear that the content of the website, in this case, is quite unreliable and suspicious.

Even in PDF, just now someone said China's new dedicated hospital for coronavirus could be actually for detaining political dissidents... don't know how people can become this stupid..

Actually, We trust on China capability and we are sure that China will manage to control this infection sooner as possible.

It could be happened in anywhere, however reason could be various.

There should not be any false news spread on this virus issue..

Again, as I said, this is a rumour I have heard, i did not stand by or discredit this rumour, if you want to say this is clearly a joke, there are only 1 way you can find out, you should start trashing China on Weibo or WeChat and see if the Chinese government laugh about it?

People believe what they want to believe, you want to believe this corona virus thing is not of any concern, that's your business, again, but if you do, you need to put your money where your mouth is. Let's say I go to the US and walk around New York City without mask and gloves and you go to Wuhan and walk around the city without mask and gloves? How about that?

A rumor can be true or false , but they don't challenge people's sanity, otherwise it's either a joke or the ones who spead them have lost some of their sanity. China poured in all resources to built an emergency hospital around the clock in 8 days for detaining political dissident? Tell me you are not insane to even speak about it, Does this man in this hospital look more like a patient or a political dissident to you?

Here comes the mysterious creature

What makes him a mysterious creature? Does he possess power beyond mortal men?

Thank you. it just puzzles me how brainless those must be to believe those nonsense.

From what I’ve noticed around here, it seems to have been politicized when it really shouldn’t have.

Again, I did not pass my judgement on that rumour, that is why when I said what I said, I said it was a rumour, TWICE, you on the other hand did pass on your judgement, so if you want to say this is a joke, you need to be able to proof it.

People can be judged by what kind of information they are passing, for most who came across that piece of BS, they just dismissed it as a pathetic joke, for you, you passed it into PDF disscussion forum.

Here comes the mysterious creature, age fourty plus but acts like a 5 years old.
U know what Cnese said when trying to enter/staying VN to avoid nCov ?? They rather die than stucking in lockdown cities cos there r not enough doctors and medicine, med mask for sick ppl and they may die painfully inside their apartments.

And I believe what they said is true. Just look at Wuhan patients, many ppl r sick, but still no treatment for them and died in their apartment.

So, dont try to keep lying, million Cnese seeking a chance to escape CN now cos they know CN govt is merciless to its ppl

Maybe you're partly right on
cos there r not enough doctors and medicine, med mask for sick ppl and they may die painfully inside their apartments.

But your last sentence is not correct.
So, dont try to keep lying, million Cnese seeking a chance to escape CN now cos they know CN govt is merciless to its ppl

A HSR ticket to neighboring province costs much less than a plane ticket to foreign country.

If possible, these infected people will seek medical treatment in the capitals of nearby provinces where medical resources are abundant.

We all know most of the cities in Hubei Province have a shortage of medical resources and a shortage of doctors and nurses at present.

But there is no shortage in other provinces. Just compare the mortality rate in Hubei province with that outside the province, you'll get it.

Ppl from CN can enter VN just by their own cars and train, no nid expensive ticket, and med mask in VN is 10 times cheaper than in HK ( 200HKD per box like Kungfu Lee said and his family is running out of med mask now while in VN is just abt 20 HKD).

And we all know that even CN cities r "stealing" mask from each other now cos their med mask is also running out.
