Facing weak market share, Ford to exit Japan, Indonesia this year

That is why i referred to his & other specialists' role in transforming China's auto industry. In the end , these are not Japanese companies, but Chinese first and foremost.

Ultimately is it really wrong for Japanese chief engineers to be in the employ of Chinese companies? Did not Japanese auto industry gain much needed critical information during the early period of our own auto industry -- and borrowed from Ford, and other european auto makers? So what is wrong with imparting knowledge and sharing experience?

We do this already in the academic field where research is published and shared to impart on the wider body of knowledge.

I suppose the same applies in auto industry.

Why does it even cross your mind that there could be something wrong with somebody from one country working for a company in another country?

I believe he designed some American company cars too.

Oh, I never said I wont admit it..I'm just stating every time I pose the same type of question as you do I get the standard brickwall completely obnoxious " :angel: who me I didn't say that...it is you who must be crazy :angel:" stock answer from some of the Chinese crew here.

But you have my respect...so I will acknowledge your point. But not for Haval itself but for their intent to challenge the Landcruiser with the Haval H9 by hiring a chief Toyota engineer to give them a good boost.

Ford these day don't make good cars, there are only 3 Ford I would ever buy if I am to buy a car today. (Not counting supercar)

Mustang - For its pedigree
Mondeo/Falcon - For its sportiness
Focus - For General purpose

If I have money, Ford GT would be on par with any Ferrari, Lotus and Porsche grade supercar.

Problem for ford is that they don't focus enough on everyday mobile. Mustang and Mondeo is a large sedan which have v8 or v6 engine in it, otherwise known as gas guzzler. Focus is the only sensible car that were remotely into "economy" sections. Ford would have sell well to country where gas price is not a concern (such as US or Australia) and not really good for people's market where gas is essentially very expensive, which are where usually Asian market is.

Still, even traditional V8 market have seems to be fallen too due to the high oil price in last 2 years, and it would be quite hopeful that the low gas price would revive the V8 in US and Australia. So, unless ford make some change, they need to bring back Escort (Which is a blend between Sport Saloon and Economic Hatch) especially Escort Cosworth which would be able to complete with even VW Polo. Also Ford should really focus on Fusion and Taraus which they can offer both v6 and Straight 6 with lower engine capacity like 2.6 or even 2 litre.

On the Chinese Auto Market. I always think Chinese did it wrong by importing people to work for them from overseas. You don't get a "boost" by doing stuff like that, unless you have a domestic talent pool to back it up, do some sort of idea exchange. Problem is, the domestic market in China were flooded with Foreign co-op and Foreign senior engineer. It won't work simply because one they those people are gonna leave for a better job. Then they would have been left with a design/management gap would one day come back and bite them.

They should have try to send Chinese engineer aboard, not the other way around, with China buying up foreign company, they should be actually take this advantage and send engineer to learn from them, not hiring people from the outside.

So ? He is a former engineer at Toyota, he is now currently an engineer for Haval. Besides, his working for Haval is not the reason for the company's success, which is due in part to the Marketing , design, and mechanical engineering sectors. Its a collaborative framework , which illustrates the wealth of cooperation between Japan and China --- systems-wide. .

Even if it was single-handedly due to the involvement of the Japanese engineer, well, that would make me even prouder as a sign of a concrete result of bilateral cooperation at the business level.

Absolutely bro, the Japanese specialists that are hired provide a role in finding the objective for the company, and including some essential characteristics found in Japanese auto industry that may do well to boost productivity and or design of the organization (Chinese auto industry a, b,c et al). Ultimately these specialists impart some wisdom, however, the overall responsibility and engine of growth will be the Chinese design engineers, Chinese marketing specialists, who have the mandate to utilize Japanese data / experience to transform the company in respect to the Chinese auto market.

Exactly, China's companies, especially those in the various fields of engineering, have a lot to learn from Japan's already established know-how and brain power. This is nothing to feel bad about. I know China also regularly tests and adopts Singaporean and Korean public management models. That's interregional dynamic.

Japan secures its hold in the Chinese market through creative partnerships with Chinese auto industry. And that illustrates the depth of our two nations' relationship. I suppose cooperation is a theme that transcends politics; its just trans-national ! lol.

I wish to see deeper cooperation to challenge the dominant position of the joint ventures of US companies.

Let's hope that particular Japanese engineer had a 99.99% stake in the success of the savage beauty mentioned below.

To start HAC, 3 conditions shall be met: 1. The gear lever shall not be in the P position and the accelerating pedal should not be pushed; 2 The vehicle shall be in a static state; 3. The handbrake is not pulled up. When the driver’s foot moves away from the braking pedal, HAC will get start. Though the handbrake is not used, the vehicle will not slip down on the hill and will be in the static state for a few seconds. With the help of HAC, the driver is able to move his/her foot from the braking pedal onto the accelerating pedal easily and it avoids the inconvenience and problems when using the handbrake to make a hill start. Besides, HAC will also function when reversing on a hill.

First of all, I would not claim 6.5 out of 10 is being "Won the praise" or even claiming anything other than mediocre. In fact, you are quoting a high end of review and try to say we Australian like this, but did you actually look at more authority review such as Car Guide, NRMA, Carsale.com.au? Instead springing me up with a review on "Caradvice"? which is virtually never heard of (as much as the brand) in Australian Market?

in fact, that dude at CarAdvice have said he would not buy a H9 given the choice there are. But it was a car that would not turn your nose up (slang for you will not look down at it.) hence it is another word, mediocre......

And given the massive level of competition out there, would you really drop $50K on a relative unknown? We wouldn’t, no. But the story here is the same as with the H8 — Haval as a brand has nothing but upside, and the H9 shows that this Chinese contender is nothing to turn your nose up at.
