F-35A in full loadout for first time

F-35 will be in stealth mode during the first few weeks or months of a war and then it can load up on the outer pylons.
Must b joking weeks months... its now hours ... the weapon systems hav become so advance that air forces need to finish up things before couple of days... otherwise they will b finished ...
F35 coming without big brother will b waste for most of countries anyway... but other than few like Israel or may b korea none will fight...

going by the yugoslav and Iraq wars tell me it takes a little longer. if the U.S wanted to beat let's say Russia and China it would take weeks if not months to gain air supremacy.

Cant compare iraq n yugoslav where usa already was dominant in air.. not talking abt boots on ground where usa will always be on backfoot..
the air dominance in a theatre of war will be decided in couple of days with Russia or China either s500s/aegis will dominate the area or F22s that too in couple of days if not in hours

Why would anyone be jealous? The F-35 is extremely primitive and backwards technology :sarcastic:

OK. Here is a chance to convice us sceptics.

On purpose the F-35 has far less stealth than F-22.
It cannot supercruise on dry thrust
Also, it is nowhere near as manuevrable as F-22.

Why should it be considered a good air-to-air fighter?

Are you serious?

F-35 lives up to its hype and is far more advanced than 99% of combat aircraft in service across the world.

Your skepticism is meaningless to US. Your ignorance based skepticism in no way affects how the jet performs. We humor you in this discussion.

2 U.S. Air Force Generals are already on record as saying the F-35 is stealthier than the F-22. The F-35's maneuverability is sufficient for any air-air engagement. It will use its advanced avionics, sensor, and electronic warfare suites to dominate the competition. We're already seeing incredible results at Red Flag. The F-35 has already deployed to Europe and Asia. Over 200 have been delivered with 500-600 expected by 2020.

Dude apart from US other airforces will only have
F-35 as an air-to-air fighter.Lots of people want to know how it will take on a 5th gen fighter optimised for air combat.

Yeah right that the F-35 is stealthier than F-22!
Why bother keeping F-22 if F-35 is better at air combat?

Then those same countries demanded a multi-role fighter....

You are not fooling anyone, least of all -- ME.

You are not interested in discussing the F-35 in a technical or tactical manner. The only thing you are interested in is to put the F-35 in as negative light as possible. It is juvenile. NO ONE should give you the benefit of the doubt.

Why should a multi-role fighter be poor at air-combat?
F-16 is multi-role and was a superb air-combat fighter.

What sceptics want to know is how will the F-35 fare against say an enemy 5th generation fighter purely designed for air-combat? Just how will be F-35 cope against enemy aircraft that are stealthier(80% of stealth is shaping),
can supercruise and are more manuverable. After all there is only so much that avionics(if indeed there is much of a difference) can compensate for.

I am genuinely interested in the technical reasons why a F-35 can overcame these massive disadvantages that are built into the airframe and can never be changed.

Once again, 2 Air Force Generals have already said the F-35 is stealthier than the F-22. The Air Force certainly doesn't need your approval.

F-22 is more stealthier and better than F-35 hence export ban due to it being too good... F-35 is the best mass produced plane in the world.

So why bother with F-22 in that case if the F-35 is so good at air-combat?

I suggest you read the articles of F-22 being marble-sized RCS and F-35 being golf-ball sized RCS before
commenting further. The F-35 was deliberately designed to be less stealthier than F-22 so it could be exported.
Why do you think that US law prohibits export of F-22 but not the F-35?

F-16 is multi-role and was a superb air-combat fighter.
The word 'poor' implies a comparison.

The F-16 will lose against the F-22, so does that mean the F-16 is a 'poor' air-air fighter ?

This is real physics, not 'Bangladeshi physics'. You want to have custom physics, talk to the Chinese and the Iranians.

What sceptics want to know is how will the F-35 fare against say an enemy 5th generation fighter purely designed for air-combat? Just how will be F-35 cope against enemy aircraft that are stealthier(80% of stealth is shaping),...
And how many of them are there in deployment ? Please do not bring up the Chinese or the Russians.

No, you are not. The gullible may believe you, but not I.

The vast majority of the world's countries have to import their defense. That means they have to accept what the market have. The Russians are unlikely to product a viable '5th-gen' combat aircraft and the Chinese are somewhat 10 yrs away. In the mean time, the F-35 is the only game in town.
