What's up guys Salaam Aleykum,

I have a question which requires answer within the next 20 hours.

I have a Turkish buddy in New York who has a PAL version Playstation III which he bought in Turkey.

He is wondering if in Pakistan there are any shops which do the modification chip that enables it to play

a.) copied/pirated games
b.) NTSC/American colour system for the TVs

I know that when I had Playstation 2 it was possible, I had the operation done in Lahore Liberty Market.

Is the same possible for Playstation 3????

please help!!!!!!!!! It would be very appreciated.

I'm sure you could get a modification chip in the electronic markets of Lahore or Karachi.

Also I'm sure that a PAL PS3 can play a NTSC DVD (Disc type) just fine.

There is this one major electronic market in Lahore 25-30 minutes away from Fortress Stadium, Lahore near the Pace mall (where imported products are sold) but I cannot remember it's name...Anyways you should be able to get the modification done there.

It would be best to play the modded PAL PS3 on a HDTV (Or change your visual setting to progressive scan)...Old TV sets will not work!

Hope this helps.

When the X-box was first released, a friend of mine was in the US. He stood in line and bought it on the first day. He flew to India the next week, making it one of the first X-boxes in India.
He got home, plugged it in only to see smoke rise out of the machine. He had forgotten that US uses 110V power supply while India is at 220V.

We now call it the ex-box.

If you mod it. I dont think you can play games online.

Webby...if its xbox then you still can..my friends xbox360 is chipped (modded) and he plays online with pirated/downloaded games...while on the other hand I have to buy the originals for my xbox

you see...it uses blue-ray disc -- but that's not the problem. Chinese already came out with blue-ray disc copier --as they are genius in these things.

The PS3 works fine. But it comes in black & white. He wants it to come in colour.

I don't like to make promises I cannot keep, so I told him I will find out if its possible.

For PS/2 I paid the guy less than 1000 rupees and he did fantastic job. But in PS/3 its a bit more tricky.

His PS3 is 220V but he has a convertor, so no problem with the voltage

colour system is the only problem. The PS3 must be able to play on American TV. The TVs in America are so bloody backwards they dont use multi-system like they do in Pakistan.

The other thing is, he wants it to play Pirated games.

I know a good reliable guy in Liberty Market Lahore --- but does anybody here have PS3 that is playing copied games?
