Exports in July-May period registers 3.6% growth

ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP): The country's exports during July-May period of current fiscal year 2006-07, were recorded at $ 15.481 billion, showing 3.6% increase over exports worth $ 14.941 billion realized in the same period of last fiscal year. According to the provisional trade figures released here, by the Ministry of Commerce, the exports during the month of May 2007 totalled at $ 1.606 billion as against $ 1.484 billion achieved in the same period of previous fiscal year, showing 8.2 percent increase.

The exports worth $ 1.606 billion realized in the month of May 2007 are also up by 7.3 percent when compared with the exports worth $ 1.497 billion achieved in April 2007.


During the first eleven months of current fiscal year (July-May), the imports also witnessed 8.4 percent growth to $ 27.743 billion from $ 26.596 billion of the same period of last financial year.


The country's imports in May 2007 were recorded at $ 2.750 billion, witnessing a growth of 3.9 percent over imports worth $ 2.648 billion realized in the corresponding month of last fiscal year.


The imports worth $ 2.750 billion realized in the month of May witnessed 6.9 percent increase when compared with $ 2.573 billion imports achieved in April 2007.
The balance of trade which was at $ -10.664 billion during July-May period of FY 2005-06, has reached to $ -12.262 billion during July-May period of current fiscal year.
