14 august ke din P3-C ka badla ?:what:

I think you are talking out of the BOX. They have serious issues with license produced equipments in India and due to that IN wants all the 6 Scorpions made in France and after this explosion I think IN might going to take some serious action in acquiring Scorpions too....

.
The Russian submarine Kursk had multiple torpedo explosions. We don't know all the facts right now, there might have been several explosions here as well.

i knew... there must have been multiple explosions...

Don't talk with your rear! All Indian Kilo class submarines are made in Russian shipyards!!

. . .
The oldest are Foxtrot class.

Scorpenes are the new ones that are planned and that program is pretty extensive including license building.

But that's still some time away and we cannot simply have a zero submarine fleet till then.

Actually Sir, the problem might be in manufacturing as IN has indicated that too. Also if IN wants subamrines quickly then they should make a deal with France for 6 subs directly from France and in 5 years time.

I am 100% sure that France has the man power to deliver in that time. Also if IN request the same from Russia for 6 SSKs then they will deliver it in 6 years or so. So IN can have 12 submarines in 5-8 years.

10.48 am: Second submarine, INS Sindhuratna also damaged in explosion

The explosion and fire aboard the INS Sindhurakshak has also damaged another submarine that was berthed next to the ill fated vessel at the Mumbai naval dockyard. The second submarine has now been identified as the INS Sindhuratna, reported Headlines Today.

The cause of the fire has not been officially revealed, but media channels quoting unnamed naval sources, have said that it is likely that the weapons aboard the fully loaded submarine detonated, causing the explosion.

Debris of missiles and boosters aboard INS Sindhurakshak have been found in the Mumbai naval dockyard, reported Times Now, virtually confirming that the warheads exploded. If this is indeed the case, it is unlikely that the vessel, which recently underwent a $18 million revamp in Russia, will ever see action again.

So much for the Mighty Indian Navy, my intention is not to troll but becareful with your INS Vikrant and the new Nuclear Sub- because if an explosion like that goes off in Nuclear Sub, there will be no IN .....
oh btw R.I.P to the brave sailors

well thats what news channele are saying. Battery compartment is just below the weapon compartment and first there was explosion in batteries and then 2 big explosions in weapon compartment. Total 3 explosions!!

How could the news channels know that? Did they have a reporter onboard when the explosion occurred? Nobody knows what happened right now, but it simply can't be the batteries. It just cannot be. The battery compartment on the Kilo is NOT 'just below' the weapons compartment; it's TWO LEVELS below the torpedo room. Batteries are not high explosives, they cannot penetrate the two bulkheads above and then the thick protective casings around the torpedoes. They just can't.
