A batch of 313 Punjab Police personnel who have been imparted anti terrorist training by Pakistan Army passed out near Kharian in two different ceremonies. General Officer Commanding (GOC), Jhelum and Kharian were the chief guests on the occasions respectively.
Pakistan Army under a phased programme is imparting special anti terrorism training to police in all four provinces and has so far provided training assistance to 8437 x Police recruits of NWFP Police and 792 selected individuals of Punjab Police. Besides imparting training, Pakistan Army has also assisted NWFP Police in terms of equipment and provided 17000 Small Machine Guns, 1000 Rifles G3, 150 Light Machine Guns, 150 RPG-7, 50 Heavy Machine Guns, 10 Recoiling Rifles and 2000 helmets to enhance their efficiency. Almost 9000 more Punjab Police personnel will be trained during current year by Pakistan Army.
While addressing the contingent of Punjab Police, GOC Jhelum emphasized the importance of specialized training to combat the menace of terrorism. He expressed confidence and hoped that special anti terrorism training imparted by dedicated Army personnel will go a long way in improvement of professional acumen of Law Enforcement Agencies. GOC congratulated all trainees on successful completion of training and sought pledge that acquired standard of marksmanship, physical fitness and mental robustness will be maintained.
In his address, GOC Kharian expressed the confidence that special anti terrorism training will go a long way in improvement of police force. He appreciated the dedication, motivation and commitment shown by police jawans. While emphasizing the need for a united action from all law enforcement agencies of country, he expressed the hope that police jawans will maintain the level of their marksmanship, physical fitness and mental alertness. The GOC congratulated all trainees on successful completion of training and specially appreciated the award winners.
Earlier, the Chief Guests also witnessed a special demonstration of anti terrorism squad of Punjab Police.
