Dramatic Video Shows Air Force Chopper Crash In Arunachal That Killed 7
NEW DELHI:
HIGHLIGHTS
  1. Chopper was flying at 17,000 feet when it crashed on October 6
  2. The military personnel were going to drop kerosene cans at an Army camp
  3. Video shows parachute getting entangled with tail rotor of chopper

A video has emerged which clearly shows the crash of an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh earlier this month that killed seven military personnel on board.

The Mi-17 V5 chopper was on an air maintenance mission at an altitude of 17,000 feet when it crashed around 6 AM near Tawang on October 6. The helicopter was flying to Yangtse to drop off kerosene jerry cans at a forward Army camp.

The 19-second clip shows the parachute of one of the cans getting entangled with the tail rotor of the chopper which then separates from the helicopter. The video confirms that the tail rotor separated from the helicopter after being struck by a kerosene can which was being airdropped.

A helicopter cannot fly without its tail rotor.

The air maintenance mission was being flown by two very experienced Air Fore pilots at an altitude of 17,000 feet.

Could have been avoided.

Kindly pay attention to the location of crash, where even kerosene had to be air dropped. I hope members here can envisage the remoteness of the location. I believe the bodies were recovered by those same guys whom the chopper was supplying, and owing to remoteness of the location, things like a proper body bag or a coffin was surely not available. So the cardboard boxes were used, as makeshift coffins till those last remains were brought to the base.

? ?
What's the point in giving any further respect, when eventually those dead bodies would be disrespectfully burned in public!
well, its about point of view, where all of us will agree that putting dead bodies in card board is a disgrace not every one would agree that cremating them is, its been a practice thata has been going on for quiet some time, similarly, is dumping bodies in ocean(which is acceptable practice in islam if somebodies dies at sea)

i am surprised that such a big incidence when on deaf ears..really pathetic

What they teach now a days in Pakistan's schools!!!! Religious hatred only?

It is not surprising that the person in your DP is grandson of a Hindu. Live a better life idiot.
well this is his personal opinion, in india legislation is done which reflects extremist like banning cow slaughter which would make sense if india had banned its export as well..this obviously means it is directed against muslims

the person in his DP new this greater autonomy to provinces and suggested a combined India with three unions groups which was category rejected by Congress as per British cabinet mission

You are right, to my knowledge, I have never seen someone parachute at such short distances and that so near to an aircraft, it's pretty common sense if you think about it, but well being Indian....they lack it.

Oh, really? No other air force does air maintenance missions? I know that your sole purpose on the forum is to badmouth India, but even that can be done in a more informed manner.

Air maintenance (which is what this is) is in fact a standard military practice, and while the IAF may do it a lot more than other air forces, due to their geographical requirements, it is still a bread-and-butter activity for any air force in the world.

You are right, to my knowledge, I have never seen someone parachute at such short distances and that so near to an aircraft..

Then your "knowledge" is rather minimal, and you haven't seen military aviation in action up close.

That's all right, not everybody has the opportunities to do so - but to parade your ignorance so brazenly, and to celebrate your lack of opportunity as a virtue - well, that requires a staggering level of stupidity.

This is SOP for supplies to forward posts in mountainous terrain - for the Indian army and air force, for the Pakistan military, and for your own Chinese air force, Mister "Han Warrior".

(Oh how easy it is to be a "warrior" on the internet, without having seen any military activity upclose in real life.)
