Exclusive: TikTok's Chinese owner offers to forego stake to clinch U.S. deal - sources

.
You are a myopic fool, lacking profound historical perspective, though you have apparently enjoyed good education, and well paid job. You represent the typical disaster of the Singapore system, and the sinister outcome of Lee Kuan Yew suppressing Chinese culture.

Nothing can so low like you taking the Indian stance -- shown in previous thread of Galwan valley. Very low, very stupid.

Now you cannot even see a the fear and paranoid of US elites, when Chinese social media mounting fledgling challenges on the monopoly of Facebook and Google. Not a single Europe startup can take on US social media in such way.

Social media is a tool of color revolution (see facebook role in Hong Kong, and middle east). Now US is afraid, very afraid of TikTok.

You glorified superior white man soft power, and you are dismissive of China's emerging soft power, as evidence by prestige of TikTok over many of rivals.

You are a waste of money. GoS made a wrong choice hiring you as 5Mao in PDF and spending on your education.

Umad?

.
So how does that work? I mean TikTok is just a software not a physical thing.
It's not like they would just sell the servers in the US while keeping the TikTok app Chinese.
It would be just the real TikTok stop doing business in the US and another company is allowed to use the name "TikTok" to do business in the US. The users and data are handed over to make it seamless.

.
TBH, China has banned numerous American applications in its mainland, and committed to its own domestic alternatives. As a neutral observer, I respect Chinese decisions in this regard. They have 100% right to do so.

Now USA is following suit. So why complain about this? There country - There Rules. Simple.
no ban. just we asked American companies to obey the Chinese law, which required all Chinese user private information stored in China and China only.
Also we ask Americans companies to filter those anti China propaganda, such as VOA, those news channels are sponsored by CIA, we are just not fools to let US bring China down by some fake news.
On the other hand, India with 1.4 billion people, allow US internet companies conquered all domestic market, and manipulate their election freely, thousands of NGOs.

The OP said:
"I hope the country can severely punish Zhang Yiming, otherwise there will be more and more surrenders in the future".
The OP thinks Zhang Yiming is a traitor billionaire who doesn't really give a flying F about China.
When I read the title I thought "wow finally something good on CJDBY" and then I read the replies...

All the other members ran to the defence of Zhang Yiming, either saying that the country failed Zhang Yiming by not showing support to ByteDance's overseas interests, or saying TikTok should be sold because "the enemy [America] is strong and we [China] are weak".

Such sad pathetic surrender attitude and inferiority complex, hopefully those replies only represent an insignificant minority in China, if Mao Zedong was alive then he would have hanged those billionaire worshippers along with the billionaires they worship. for all of it's faults, I believe a new mild version of the cultural revolution is needed to root out the traitor billionaires.

Ren Zhengfei is by far the best billionaire China has, he should be a role model for Chinese billionaires, he did not cave in even though not just the US but the rest of the 5 eyes ganged up on him going as far as kidnapping his daughter yet still moved on and he won the hearts and minds of the largest market that is China , unlike ZTE which caved in to America.

You can never cross the #1 country if you aren't willing to take some damage, and in the case of ByteDance it isn't much damage, just 20% of their market share is in the US.

Hopefully more & more voices like that of the OP will spread in Chinese social media, I'm pretty sure the Chinese government can find some taxes that Zhang Yiming evaded and prosecute him for it and confiscate his property, turn him into a street beggar, make an example out of him.

There are a lot of fake accounts on the web site. It looks like they were given a mission to defend Zhang.

Chinese members here boost about their high IQ. How come they are influenced by same fake news.

So that's why McDonalds improved in recent years. It was not even edible until a few years ago.
Visited many countries already, I have to say McDonalds in China has the best McDonalds in the world.

.
It takes one hundred years to build rules and system by US, but you can ruin them in less than a year by a stupid leader.
US is more and more like another India, Not a bad thing to the rest of the world.

US McDonalds really sucks. KFC sucks too.

EXCEPT the fries!!!
I really hope KFC can sell this type of fries in China.

Robbery is a 400-year Anglo-Saxon tradition. They used to rob in Europe, then they robbed Indians in North America, and now they rob Chinese companies. I am not surprised at all.

There is nothing wrong with robbery ... everyone had to do it at some point. The question is which countries have the capability to do successfully.

That's true. Like, Facebook, Youtube, and many more.

Yet the reasons for the US and Chinese banning apps are different.

1. The Chinese ban US apps to censor their public and not out of any concern for protecting their user's data being used by the American Government to gather intelligence. Data on users is kept inside China. All companies are required to host their platforms inside their firewall and within their data centers.

2. The Chinese CCP passed a specific law in 2017 that requires any Chinese company, upon request, to hand over and assist in gathering all information for the purpose of intelligence gathering. This law is becoming the bane of their tech company's continued existence in the western world. The Chinese CCP has time and again been caught tracking and harassing Chinese dissenters settled in other parts of the world
