Surprised that this video is on Youtube but whos complaining. Finally got to look at the glossy liquid crystal displays ! :crazy:

The reality is one F-16 Blk 52 is probably equivalent of three JF-Thunders. I wait for @Windjammer to coorect me. I read the F-16 has three times greater payload then JF-17. Remarkable for a fighter that came out 40 years ago in 1978.

F-16 was born out of Light Weight Fighter concept. The first Blocks 1,5 and 10 as well as F-16/79 were simple, then the upgrades of Block 15, 15 OCU and 20 made it a bit different. The C/D began with Block 25, then Block 30/32 and later Block 40/42 and Block 50/52 made it capable to carry different types of munitions as well as conduct specialized roles. Consequently, F-16 carried more weaponry, its engines improved, its payload.

JF-17 at Block I and II stands where F-16 Block 50/52 stands in terms of weapon carrying capability. So the jumps for JF-17 have been much quicker capitalizing on evolving of F-16. Lets start a plain comparison :

1. BVR Missile Capability:
F-16 was made capable to carry BVR from Block 15 and onwards. Block 15 was a major upgrade and one of the most produced A/B model along with Block 15 OCU. ADF is also Block 15, capable of carrying 6 x BVR missiles, probably through common rail launcher.
JF-17 carried BVR weapons from the onset, it can carry 6 x BVR missiles through MER. Due to non availability of Aim-9x and Aim-120 D for PAF's F-16s, JF-17 will induct newer generation of missiles.

2. Anti Radiation Missile Capability:
F-16 Block 40/42 became ARM Capable (though Block-30/32 had provisions), later older MLU's also, carrying 2 x AGM-88 HARMs while JF-17 Block I can carry 2 x MAR-1 ARMs. Same capability.

3. Anti Shipping Capability:
F-16 Block 15 OCU could carry Penguin Anti Ship Missile after an upgrade and later Block 50/52 was the first one to carry AGM-84 Harpoon.
F-16 can carry upto 4 x anti ship missiles and JF-17 also carries 2 x Anti ship missiles.

4. Targeting Pod:
While F-16 Block 15 and later Blocks carried targeting pods under fuselage/under air intake, JF-17 targeting pod could take up a hard point, though i think that ASELPOD can be carried under fuselage.
F-16 can carry ECM pod on centre line, fuel tank could be compensated.

5. Air to Ground Missile :
This is where F-16 takes a big lead from JF-17.
F-16 can carry 6 x AGM-65 missiles, while a general purpose air to ground missile is yet to be selected for JF-17.

One area where JF-17 could have had a prominent edge over F-16 was carriage of ALCM, somehow has not materialized as yet.

6. Night Strike Missions:
F-16 Block 25 C/D was first night strike mission capable, where as JF-17 had Night vision capability from the onset.

7. General purpose Guided and Un guided Bombs:
F-16 can carry upto 12 x Mark-8X series payload, JF-17's payload is lesser. The laser Guided bombs were used by F-16 Block 40/42's due to induction of LANTIRN, upgraded Block 15's could also carry. JF-17 can carry GBU series and LS-6 or clones.

8. Fuel Tanks:
F-16 has more hardpoints, so can carry weapons with greater range where as JF-17 will have to compromise.

Overall, F-16 has evolved into a highly sophisticated and modernised strike aircraft, much different from the role initially envisioned for it. Due to so many Blocks, modifications and upgrades, F-16 has become more lethal by the decade. Block-70 or V-upgrade will bring F-16 equal to 4.5 gen fighters, though UAE's Block-60 is already a match for legacy 4.5 fighters especially in strike role.

For JF-17, if enough versions and blocks are produced with handsome number of orders from foreign customers, it too could evolve in a potent strike oriented oriented aircraft, such as Structural changes like more hardpoints and CFT's . The Block-III should bring it closer to 4.5 gen.

The twin engine F-4 Phantom was the heavy work horse of several air arms including USAF, USN, Marines and several European and other air forces, yet when the F-16 arrived, it was said that it could carry double the load of Phantom to same distance or same load to twice the distance. Yet ironically it's original concept was as a lightweight fighter.

More like 1.5 Thunders. It's not just about payload btw, other things like avionics must be taken into account too. If we judge aircraft by payload alone, you will be forced to admit some 3rd gen aircraft are better than some 4th gen ones.

This was the Air Commodores farewell flight I believe. The legacy that these people posses is outstanding.

You can even praise it as gold but fact is F-16 is still a foreign product, produce from a country which is very hostile to Pakistan.

Even JF-17 shot down IAf aircraft, I guess some still think JF17 is not even 1/3 of an F-16.

You know one thing I really appreciate about Chinese is how humble, how realistic you are. The F-16 is far better then JF-17. You know that and so does everybody. No point in being delusional. PLAAF also know that. Please tell me exctly how many Thunders squadrons it has? Why are you guys buying Russian junk for? Su's and Migs? To please Putin?

Of course PAF can't afford or get hold of enough F-16s to fill up the numbers so JF-17 is a great compromise between money, supply, capability and Pakistan haas some link in the manufacturing even if it is paint, spray and add a few bolts aka like other car franchises we have in Pakistan.

JT17 block 3 with Aesa radar will be our best plane. At the moment F16s are our champs.Saying that we are extremely grateful to our Chinese brothers who have provided us a great platform which will become the future torch bearer of PAF for times to come.
