pretty much everything on your list can only be done by overseas pakistanis and we are willing to but the lazy pakistanis in pakistan who just dream of going to europe and america need to start doing something in pakistan as well to help the country come back on its feet.

The purpose of this thread is to educate ourselves about the volume of wealth which has been stored illegally out of Pakistan and how much of it can be pottentially brought back easily without having to maneuver the complexities of national and international law.

Not a day goes by and we hear different reports on media of this much $billion stored in country 'x', that much $billion illegally stored in 'y'.

Just recently I heard that $135 billion is stored is UAE. These are huge sums considering our reserves right now. There's a lot of talk about 'looti hui daulat wapis layen gay' but no clear targets, goals and timelines.

So I would like all to share your inputs about roughly how much wealth return are we looking at and in how much time and in what forms. I don't think it's going to be as simple as Swiss govt transferring x $billion and Arab govts returning y $billion directly into our banks in days. Kudos

there might be 135 billion worth of pakistani wealth in uae but dont forget that not all can be bought back becuase most of it is invested in real estate and they simply cant just bring the whole building back.... im gonna be it would be great even 10 percent of that 135 billion comes back.

Are you trying to hold children responsible for the deeds of their parents? Z.A. Bhutto's machinations caused two wars with India, chopped away half of Pakistan into a bloody stump, and seeded the roots of the Afghan conflict that we still suffer from today. I'm not a particular admirer of the family but I can't see how his descendants have proved to be "10x worse" - or even, collectively, half as bad; how do you figure that?

All the ills if ZAB ended up culminating under Benazir and even worse under Zardari. Many of the issues regarding the political process and the economic situation in Pakistan is rooted truly in the rule of this family. Zia and similiar military rulers had some measure of discipline and some sense of responsibility-in fact ZAB's mistakes to an extant were reversed under Zia. Instead when it comes to the bhuttos they gifted Pakistan with wonders like the poverty bomb in the 90s and incompetence that still haunts us. Ahhh the wonders of the bhuttos:

And no the seeds of the afghan conflict lie in 1947 when Afghanistan had vehemently opposed Pakistan's admission into the UN. You had successive events like their invasion of Pakistan in Bajaur during Ayub Khan's rule that lead to political crisis on their end and then the saur revolution etc.
