He may be competent but he doesnt suit the portfolio of national security adviser.. He can remain in the foreign ministry.. Also due to his old age, i think he is unable to be more active, as he should have been, even in the ofreign affairs ministry.. I also think we should have a comparatively younger person in place in foreign ministry, who is more proactive

Sartaj Aziz was one of those people in Nawaz cabinet in 1998 who were against nuclear tests explosion in response to Indian tests.. So i dont know how much he is capable of safeguarfing Pakistan immediate and long term interests

That opposition does not make him anti-Pakistan. Difference of opinion within any team makes that team stronger as it enables the team to look at all aspects of a problem, discuss all outcomes and implications. Group think is the most dangerous thing in a team or group. As the head of finance in my previous and current organizations, whenever I form teams for various projects, I make sure I choose people with different personalities, who think differently and look at things differently, that helps to bring out all aspects of the problems/ intended solutions to make an educated decision.

If PA is keen to appoint him as National Security adviser & are applying pressure on the Govt., then surely it is a great move by PA. The mummy Sartaj has not given any performance as National Security adviser, as this position is a tough one & should only be handled by some one who knows what is going on all three sides of the border. I hope he serves well as NSA.

Sartaj Aziz is an economist and not a security expert. I think appointing the ex-general is the right choice. plus there was a lot of stress / agro between Aziz and Fatemi (PM foreign policy advisor)
