Ex-MNA quits ANP to join PTI

MANSEHRA: Former Member of National Assembly (MNA) Nawabzada Salahuddeen Saeed quit Awami National Party (ANP) and announced joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Talking to reporters at Oghi on Wednesday, Salahuddeen said he met PTI chief Imran Khan in Islamabad and made the announcement.

He said the ANP couldn’t honour the pledges made to the people of the Hazara division, particularly the residents of Tanawal, which was his native constituency.

The former lawmaker, who was elected MNA four times from NA-21, said that if his party allotted him ticket he would contest the election from the same constituency.

He said former chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti had announced to give Tanawal the status of district, but could not materialise the announcement.

Former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Habibur Rehman Tanoli, who had joined ANP, was contesting the coming general elections as an independent candidate. According to his family sources, he refused to get the ANP ticket when the party contacted him.

I will welcome anyone quitting racist politics to join South Asia's largest democratically elected party. It means that PTI through its strategies have been successful in changing in people's ideals which itself is a revolution. This guy knows that his chances of getting a ticket after elections in PTI are next to zero,so you can either describe his decision to be stupid or idealistic...your pick.

Friend the difference is very much evident, it amazes me that how people fail to see it. First of all don't you see the difference between the number of 'electables' joining PTI vs the number of 'electables' joining PML N?

That's because the way PTI is scrutinizing before giving anyone a party ticket. You have case of Inam ula Niazi who has still not been given ticket from PTI because he is probably a bank defaulter, even though he is Imran Khan's cousin! Then we have examples of Fauzia Kasuri (PTI founder member) and Farhat faheem from Gujar khan giving up their US and UK citizenships respectively in order to be eligible to get PTI tickets. Doesn't this indicate you that only clean people are being/will be given ticket by PTI? Now don't expect PTI to just completely freeze all new entries for no reason!

Anyone who leaves a party will always talk to impress another to join. @ topic. I thought IK was happy all opportunists are leaving ? The fact of the matter is ANP has no credibility. It is one of the parties along with MQM to create mess in Karachi. I really don't know what was going through PTI's mind to take him in.

its not about old or new, there are many clean faces that despite being in politics remained clean, javed hashmi, saad rafique, raza rabani, late haider Iqbal and so many others...

point being if you specifically look at who is joining PTI and who is joining PMLN, you will see that those who are clean have joined PTI, but those who are rotten to the core have joined PMLN/ppp.

I am not saying that all who joined PTI are good, I had my reservations on Legharis, Sardar Asif ali etc, and see they are all flying away because Imran is giving tickets on merit !!
