Everyone must read this!

Fine you will end with US deeply entrenched into ASEAN, and US will finally successfully contain you.

In your wildest dreams. China was seen as the villain when you treacherous Indians backstabbed her. Did that lead to an Asian NATO? You're a novice. This development will hurt ASEAN and Australia first, America second, and China third. None of which China ever wanted.

The problem my friend is that it works when there is one nation that you are angry with. But if 15 nations are doing this, then there is no chance.

Keep trying to pretend China is encircled and thus needs your "friendship", on terms wildly favorable to your side. Never going to happen.

Live in your dreams. First you were saying how Britain left America and joined China, when this came up the defence ministry statements, which had to be very well crafted, you started spewing out drivel.

I don't need to pretend anything, but it is a fact that China can't go alone, not even in Asia.

Never said Britain left America. Are you sure you're not having a brain seizure? Britain is still in America's camp, only now more independent. Yet they're not anti-China and sell China arms. Obviously states will make cheap worthless statements if it's in their interest.

lol, who said China is alone? Do you see a single one of your grand anti-China alliance boycotting Chinese goods? How about among Taiwanese, are they pulling their hundreds of billions in investments?

Your China containment wet dream isn't coming true. Your dream of a grand bargain with China where India gets to be the violent overlord of South Asia also isn't coming.

Yes, but what if they follow up?
Also, they anyways give legitimacy to others. Everyone matters.
Quite a bit of ASEAN, I can confirm, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, have just recently stood for the same stand as USA.
That is more US engagement. (Read Lee Hsien Loong's statement)
COC signing.
Halt of Land reclamation.

You must not forget that Japan is not a marginal power, simply because it can train other countries and create a lot of trouble.

Today Ashton Carter, said that he is collaborating on Maritime Security, Jet Engine, and Aircraft Carrier Production.

Lee Hsien-Loong, without minced terms, told the US to back the **** off just like their retiring senior minister did. He warned him that no country wanted to choose sides. WHO has been forcing countries to choose sides? Japan can train all they want. If the Philippines or Vietnam dares to invade Chinese held islands, they will be destroyed even if the Japanese intervene directly.

Keep up your wet dreams about Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia (all of which just say whatever the US wants to hear and acts contrarily) and don't count on Taiwan joining you in this anti-Chinese crusade.

So what the **** can you do, Mr. Ramjet? Blockade the Russo-Chinese or Pak-China border? Best case scenario for you, China gives up dealing with the West and turns inward to Eurasia, and outward to Latin America. Your hypothetical alliance is not the only one who can train and arm.

Malaysian Def Minister:

Now we come to the Elephant in the room, namely, the South China Sea. It is an old problem, It involves the dignity and face of the nations involved. If we are not careful, it could certainly escalate into one of the deadliest conflicts of our times, if not our history. Malaysia is more than aware over what is at stake at the South China Sea. That is why we have consistently advocated that diplomacy takes precedent in approaching this dispute. We remain convinced that the Code of Conduct is the best way to govern the waters and urge that consultations be intensified. This is to ensure the expeditious establishment of an effective COC. COC will be a key instrument in ensuring the proper management of these vital sea lanes upon which so much and so many depend. ASEAN mechanism and approaches promote peaceful dialogue. Any peaceful settlement must be acceptable to all nations involved. And that the ASEAN must remain the principal and indeed the only forum for South East Asian nations to pursue a resolution. The dispute resolution between Malaysia and Indonesia is an example where dialogue between nations is vital.

Singapore and Malaysia are also examples which used International Law to settle disputes, which shows that International Law can be used, and must be used.
All parties should avoid actions that will promote tensions.

Essentially Malaysian def min stand is exactly attenued with US over these issues:

  1. ASEAN will be the only forum for discussion, no bilateral talks.
  2. Use International Law.
  3. COC must be established as soon as possible.
  4. I don't know where but he also told that military activities must not be increased, and that nations will be accountable for their individual actions.
  5. He also said to sit down and talk, avoid rhetoric.

Point 1,2,3 are totally pro-US.
Point 4 can be interpreted either way, but since China is actually trying to establish a military base, it is more against China.
Point 5 seems to be against US.

@TheTruth @sword1947

UK defence Min says-

  1. Universal Values being threatened.
  2. Sovereignty disputes in the SCS and East China Sea, and associated land reclamations are only likely to increase regional tensions.
  3. None of these problems can be dismissed as merely local difficulties.
  4. Always speak out against aggression, and causes of instability.
  5. Provocative Behavior challenges the risk of miscalculation
  6. Disturbed the scale and speed of Land Reclamation activities
  7. Refrain from activities
  8. Settle disputes peacefully, and according to International Law.
  9. Encourage a binding Code of Conduct
  10. Stand shoulder to shoulder with United States, and allies, to defend
  11. Military activity will be expanded in Asia Pacific region, and spend more money in defense.

That's why I say economy is not the only thing.
@AndrewJin

Almost every nation is calling for COC, every nation for a rules based order, every nation against coercion, China made a strategic mistake in stretching itself too wide.

Further words:

  1. We consider US as the central power as maintaining peace in this region. And value our relationship with US.
Everyone should hear the UK defense min speech, he is the 3rd speaker.

@Raphael @TheTruth @ChineseTiger1986

@cirr @cnleio
don't care what they said & what "International Law" write , we follow our rule "when friends come, we service them with great wine; when thieves come, we service them with gun." law is maken for the weak, not for the makers. if you want us follow it, you should punish the US first for they invade Iraq, and then punish Russia for they beat Georgia, and you also need to punish UK for FalklandsWar.......US & Russia & UK are makers of "International Law", they all disobey it but no punishment come. by the way, we are also a maker of it, can you expect more? we don't mind that US start a conflict like Korea conflict in 1950. if US & alliances want, we are willing to play with them until the end of this planet .

It is giving Japanese marines training in the case of a Diaoyu/Senkaku contingency.
can this training stop thousands of missle?

So essentially it is useless to talk to you. What is happening is pretty extraordinary at Shangri La. US has been able to mobilize a lot of international community.
but not all international communit, only the slave of US.

As I say, strength is in Unity. Even Australia is raising these issues now. And there was talk that Australia might send Freedom of Navigation patrols.
ask them show up within 12 Miles near our islands in SCS right now!!!!!!

Yes, but what if they follow up?
Also, they anyways give legitimacy to others. Everyone matters.

"Yes, but what if they follow up?" you still dream on it? when we were in the weakest period in 1950, we fought with United Nations Command Military, but now we are much different for that time, again, we don't mind that US start a conflict like Korea conflict in 1950. if US & alliances want, we are willing to play with them until the end of this planet .

:dance3: Seriously, don't worry about us in SEA.
We all knew China and their action has huge effect in the region.

But you can't change the fact that the bigger treat to the region is most of the countries in the region are fxcked. Some of them are poor, under-developed, poor education, poor infrastructure, corruption where the money flow to the west...
We can't even solve the recent Rohingya refugee issue effectively, you expect us to unite to counter the big panda from the northern side?

I do expect my country to have a good diplomatic relationship and healthy development/cooperation across all level with China while protect our own interest. Same principle apply to US, Japan and other countries.

I also believe the more mature countries in the region (for example Singapore and Indonesia) will also have the same view.

Quite a bit of ASEAN, I can confirm, Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, have just recently stood for the same stand as USA.
