"Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel committee is the former prime minister of Norway."

"Every member of the committee is either a former member of the Norwegian parliament or a cabinet member of the Norwegion government."

"They are chosen for their positions by the Norwegian parliament."

This certainly adds credibility to the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is the rule actually. Norwegian parliament appoints Nobel Committee. It has been as such for a century or so, not sure how cnn found that as a breaking news.

The deal is that the Norwegian Prime minister and Foreign Minister said to media that China shouldn't be angry with the Norwegian government because the Nobel commitee supposedly was independent from the Norwegian politics.

The Nobel commitee is supposed to be politically independent.
Well, since the commitee is chosen by the Norwegian legislative chamber, China thinks that the "polically independent" claim by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister are wrong.

So Norway basically distorted the truth. This has been controversial, and it has been debated, and since I live in Norway I have picked the news up. :azn:

And the Norway claims that Liu Xiaobo was chosen by "international law". :disagree::rolleyes:
