PM Narendra Modi on Friday hoped the Kartarpur corridor would act as a bridge between India and Pakistan, a day after the Union cabinet cleared a proposal to develop a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district to the International Border. Referring to the fall of the Berlin Wall, PM Modi hoped that the corridor might lead to a better future between the two countries,

Underlining the strength of people-to-people contact, the prime minister said,”Had anyone ever thought that the Berlin Wall would fall. May be with the blessings of Guru Nanak Devji, this Kartarpur corridor will not just remain a corridor, but act as a bridge between the people of the two countries.”

While speaking at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the residence of Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal in New Delhi, PM Modi referred to the Partition and said, “What has happened in 1947 has happened.” He said the issues between the governments and the armies would continue and only time will show the way out.

Kartarpur Sahib is located across Ravi river in Pakistan and is about four km from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine. The demand to build a corridor linking India’s border district of Gurdaspur with a historic gurudwara in Pakistan has been a long-pending demand of the Sikh community. The corridor, once built, will give Indian pilgrims easy access to the shrine in Kartarpur.

Hours after India cleared the proposal to develop the corridor, Pakistan welcomed the move and conveyed its decision to open the Kartarpur corridor.

“It is a step in the right direction and we hope such steps will encourage voice of reason and tranquility on both sides of the border,” Pakistan information and broadcasting minister Fawad Chaudhry tweeted.

Pm. Modi is one baniya opportunist! When this offer was made by the Pakistani govt he had all the Indian media engaged to create a war hysteria to corner the Indian sikh community but when the plan backfired, he immediately sent it to the cabinet for approval. Well played thirsty crow.

Someone's changed their tone :what:

It is a change in 'strategy' by the toilet-less nation. 'Hard tactics' were not working so they have engaged in 'soft tactics', which is even more dangerous.

.
Why sanghis are taking credit for this, it was proposed by Pakistan and sanghi cant say NO to the offer without angering sikhs. It seems sanghis are afraid that Pakistan will take all credit for it hence trying to up their propaganda game.

The ultra nationalist Indian media was given a job to test the waters and label others as traitors but they had to cave in subsequently.

We learned one thing too. You lot want to act big, love goodies and medals, just wait it out and you guys will fight with each other and ruin everything. Like in 1965, and 1971.

Speaking of Indian PM, we made him PM not for mending relation with Pakistan, we made him PM for our economic growth and corruption less development. You can roll over and mock him all you want and beat him in your imagination. Or you can ask for some bailouts:enjoy: we have a $420 billion in Treasuries (incl gold) sitting idle.

Half of Kashmir from a weak princely state. But thanks to your attempt at taking on Jammu and Kashmir, we forced Hari Singh to sign the instrument of accession and still, you haven't touched the outskirts of Kashmir. :)

Speaking of Punjab, save it there. We don't care, we control all the rivers through dams. We're not as water stressed as you. We can send heatwaves to your country as your minister mentioned (Pun). We are the weather wizards.:enjoy:

Seriously though, what you gained during partition was yours, keep that. It was an eventuality, some communities are hard to integrate no matter where they are, thank you for leaving the land. We got people who have no problem to integrate into the community and stayed behind despite the push and reaping the benefits.
